I was reviewing some pics of my 410DA that I had surveyed in December, and was pleasantly surprised to see that the horns on the 410DA are AIR HORNS....

Anyone know where the compressor is located on these models?????

thanks.

I think the compressor is under the starboard closet in the vbirth stateroom. I'll check for sure later this afternoon (I think I have a diagram buried somewhere in the basement)

The compressor or pump is about the size of a coke can only shorter, so it may be in the compartment with the horns......open the access hatch on the deck and you'll see it if its there.

So I suppose my next boat will need to be a 40 footer so I can get rid of those silly SR "duck horns". Dominic , I love your new signature (Roaring chambers of power) I think I will follow you and Skip (thundering cathedrals of American torque) and change mine as well... how about.... 300DA w/ twin 350Merc's and Bravo 3's ("vibrating pod's of corrosion" ) :smt043 Well.... I hope not anyway  . Good luck with your new boat, Brian

"Vibrating Pods of Corrosion"! I almost cried laughing :smt043 JC

Skip made me do it....it was kind of like my initiation into the diesel club....I can't wait to take actuall delivery....March 30th...and then, as Skip might say..... I get to fire up those solid white billets of torque and burn some red oil.......

Dominic,
Just tore up the baement and can't find the diagram. It must be on the boat. Sorry...

Ahh...a basement...I'm jealous......that is the biggest thing I miss about living on the water....

I'll have to wait another few weeks, and then I guess I'll do as Frank W suggest or I'll just turn on the power and "listen"...

thanks for the help..

If the compressor is small for air horns, what would it take to install the compressor and horns in place of the Sea Ray sissy horns????

Steve, I was wondering the same thing. It seems like it would be pretty simple to run new wiring from the horn switch. Do you think the horn would look ok on the arch? If not, maybe somewhere on the bow. The wiring would be easier to run to the arch. It would also be easier than trying to replace the existing horn in the rope locker. I think I could put the compresser either inside the helm or around there hidden somewhere. I'm sure yours must be similar.

I don't know about the 410, but on the 450DA the actual horns are about 2 ft. long. There is room to hide them and the little compressor under the deck ahead of the trunk cabin.......dunno where you'd put the horns on your boat.

I have a picture of the 410 horns, but it is 14MB and I can't shrink it...anyone know how to shrink a REALLY big jpeg?

I was actually just thinking of that after I wrote my last post. It may be easier to use the existing wiring and install the compressor in the rope locker where the horn is now. I think there is enough room in the 310's locker to put the horns too, maybe smaller horns would fit better. Do you think that if the stock horn is left in place, would the air horn be too muffled? Dominic, you should be able to shrink it enough with a program like photoshop or similar, not sure what you're using.

Jackson:

I tried Picturetray and another (forgot the name)...both said the original was too big...anyone want to try...I can email the picture....

Buy Kahlenberg's. They are too expensive but wonderful. We have fog from time to time and when in it the radar shows the guys that hang around the mouth of The Sturgeon Bay Ship Channel. When they hear those horns they don't know whether to %&#* or go blind.

Todd:

You have an email....I think....it was big and took forever to upload....

comcast just bounced back the picture....too big...

Anymore suggestions?

not sure......where are your horns? (that doesn't sound right) On the bow? I checked out the website for Kahlenberg, it's funny...you can actually listen to the horns on the site. They are loud as hell.
