Just starting a Kansas thread! I boat mostly the mid to eastern lakes, so far, El Dorado, Tuttle creek and Perry Lake.

I am planning a Missouri River trip from Atchison Ks to St Louis!

Anybody from Kansas is welcome to say hello!!!!

Call me stupid!! But I am from KC--and do people boat on the rivers around KC. It sounds like a death sentence to me.

I cant really speak for the KC area, but I know people boat every where else on the MO.

I am actually planning a trip for next summer to go from Atchison Ks, to St Louis!

In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with boating on the river, It would be a good Idea to get some charts and some classes from the coast guard aux or the power squadron. If you know how to read the charts and the navigational aids its really no big deal.


Why do you think it would be a death sentance.

And you are not stupid for thinking so....... stupid would be getting out there with out the proper training and equipment.

We have kept a boat on Perry since 2001. We have a slip at LPYM. On the Missouri I know people around St. Joseph, Mo. Who have went to Omaha, Ne. and also made the trip to St. Louis, Mo. I wish there was a decent marina on the river around the Kansas City area, Atchison, Ks. has done more with their river front than K.C. has.

From Omaha here, we boat the Missouri regularly. I've grow accustomed to it now. To the point where I almost prefer the river life.

I'm sure it's more dangerous than boating a lake, but we have never batted an eye at it.

It's pretty much where everyone goes in Omaha. Great Times!
