Aggravating cockpit table

Not being familiar with that setup, how heavy is the base? Assuming it's heavy enough to at least be cumbersome, can you make a spot for the table and pole in the engine compartment? Maybe a slot on the underside of the engine hatch to slide the table into? Or a vertical slot/holder somewhere in the engine compartment where you just "drop" the table down into it? Could the base slide under the stbd cockpit sofa/seat? Or maybe just behind the port steps?

I think having a table is great. What about getting a new top for it that folds? It takes up much less room. We used marineteak.co.uk. He gives a discount to csr members and we had the table in 3 days from the UK!

The base isn't "too" heavy, but heavy enough to hold the table from sliding around. I haven't found any compartment in the cockpit that holds the table or pedestal well. I figure I'm going to have to engineer something - but I was wondering if someone had already figured out a good plan.

I have left it on the dock several times. But there are many times that it's helpful. I prefer to figure out how to stow it.

Those teak tables are nice, but for my needs I don't think the folding table will make that much difference. This table isn't significantly wide, it's just something to constantly walk, scoot, slide around or trip over.

Mine has brackets under the seat, just aft of the table. Maybe you could fabricate some "L" brackets to hold it there when not in use.

I don't know if this was the OEM configuration or not, but under the rear bench seat on an '02 340DA, there are two slots, one for the table top, and the other for the filler piece that makes the two benches into a U shaped seating area, and sun pad. You might be able to add some brackets as Kevin suggested. I just am not sure there's room under your rear seat, because I think on your model the seat base is molded in, without a gap under it perhaps?

I think I looked under the rear bench, but at the moment I wouldn't stake my life on it. I'll check again and see if I can find some brackets anywhere.

As long as you're looking places - check under the engine hatch - I have seen that done by Sea Ray on some boats and maybe it's already there on yours. If not, PVC or fiberglass C-channel is easy to source for making your own slide-in storage compartment somewhere.
