Has anyone added speaker pods for aft facing speakers? If you have done this, are you happy with the set up? I am looking for more sound to be projected to the rear, when we are swimming behind the boat or for passengers sitting in the most aft cockpit seating on a 360DA. I am considering having a pod made to hold 2 speakers that would be mounted under the radar arch.

Here are a couple of pics I have for ideas...

i see a lot of wake board boats that have rear facing speaker pods mounted on the arch so these must be pretty common....

Waves and Wheels at LOTO makes those pods.......you can see them on their website.
I have seen those. There is a company on Table Rock that also uses the WW pods...they are around $300. I am gonna check and see how much a fiberglass pod will cost. I would like the speakers a little further apart.....but I may have sticker shock.

Jeff,
As others said Waves & Wheels makes the QAP-Quad Pod in black and white and I have installed a few on friends boats but I think the price they are asking is outlandish $360 each with NO speakers for a simple rotary-molded polypropylene enclosure. With most marine speakers being waterproof, I would highly recommend the Polk dB651 (About $50-$60pr). You could cut two holes in the transom to mount the speakers and making a simple Sunbrella cover held on by Velcro to reduced sun exposure and bug infestation through woofer gap by tweeter post when not in use. The other option is buying another product from Waves and Wheels called the SW-1 and if paired with the Polk dB651S (S=Shallow mount) you could again mount to transom but only have to drill 4 mounting screw holes to hold speaker and SW1 to hull. The dB6501S is shallow enough to not require a hole being cut out behind SW-1. Less invasive to hull and just as effective. Lastly consider just wiring extra speaker wires with banana connectors and pick up a inexpensive book shelf speaker to quickly connect when you want the sound out back. This option is less convenient but no drilling in transom required.

One last idea is having a custom hinged speaker enclosure that is flush mounted on sides or top of arch and when you want it to face aft let it swing open. A more complex build but just another idea to consider.

I'm not a big fan of the ugly speaker pods hanging off of radar arches on nicer bigger boats like ours. They look great on ski boats but..... (Just my opinion) I prefer to have my system be a little more stealth at my age.

I considered installing JL speaker pods under my arch but the clearance was too tight. The cost was also pretty outrageous for two speakers once the mounting hardware was factored in. I opted for adding two rear facing JL 7.7s on the transom. Much less costly and they are not dangling in the way. FYI, I added a separate volume control for these speakers so I can turn them off when I'm at the dock. Keeps my dockmates happy.

The 41 we bought in the fall came with the aft facing speakers and I will say they rock. The PO had put sonys in the Arch which we recently replaced with JL's and those alone are enough, but team them up with these and you have quite the sound coming out of the cockpit. I can wait to see what she sounds like on the water versus in a storage building

I did the same however I had to use 4" speakers because that is the size that would fit flat against the transom of my boat....my transom has a lot of curves and slopes....they blend in well on the transom....I used Polk Audio DB series speakers for all the speakers (7 total) in my cockpit and transom....I must say the 4" speakers sound great for being so small and will crank as loud as you want without distortion....I also installed 4 separate gain (volume) controls to control the speakers in each zone to be able to control which speakers are active or not.....
