I would like to replace the carpets on my SeaRay 185 with rubber mats, does anyone know of after market mats that fits a searay 185? it will be cool if they can custom fit my boat floor.

Thanks
Manjo

Most of the people on the board will recommend snapincarpet.com. According to everything I have read on the board they do great work and will have the template for your boat already on file.

If you do a search for carpet you will find several topics about this business.

edit: Just realized you asked for rubber mats instead of carpet? Let us know if you would like to part with your carpet when you replace it.

you mean replace the snap in carpet with rubber mats? I would like to hear about that if you get anywhere. My carpet is unfortunately glued down, and this could be a solution for my problem as well. What kind of rubber mats are you envisioning?

I have permanent carpets in my 176 as well. To be honest, it drives me crazy that they're not snap-in. I contacted the guys at Sanpincarpet a month or so ago to see if the could fabricate what essentially would be a durable, washable overlay for about 80% of my deck space. (My boys are starting to get into fishing and fish guts + carpet = yuk!) They were very accommodating and answered all my questions without delay. I haven't ordered anything yet (because I'm actually thinking about moving up a couple feet into a more fish-friendly boat) but if I do they'll be the company I'll go with. They'll do anything you want.

That's interesting. So you were thinking about just putting it over the carpet? It seems like the carpet would get wet and never dry and that would not be good! What was their idea? And how much would it cost?

p.s. I too have been thinking about a more kid friendly boat... one I could hose off and maybe had a deeper cockpit. I wish Sea Ray would make a nice dual console like grady white, scout or whaler.

Mike - Funny. I just posted a new topic on exactly that subject.

My plan is/was to order a dark colored carpet with a waterproof backing to simply place over the existing carpet when I wanted to fish or make some other sort of mess. My boat sleeps in my driveway, so it would be easy enough to just pull out the "fishing mat," hose it down and let it dry. I forget what the quote was, but it was fairly reasonable. Certainly cheaper than a new boat!

you can have canvas snap in covers made if you have glue down carpet.

that way you can snap them out and clean/treat them.

I've seen this one some bigger sea ray boats was a nice idea to beable to cover the carpet instead of taking it out. I didn't look to see if you could take it out to but if you could that would be doubly good.
