We're adding Directv and a DVD player and since its just the two of us we're not interested in watching different channels on different TVs. Given that we're looking for down and simple connection, do you think the following will work?

Run the sat dish coax to the sat reciever. Another coax from the sat reciever into the ant connection on the DVD. Another coax from the Ant out on the DVD to an input on an AB switch. Run the shore cable TV coax to the other input on the AB swith. Then run another coax from the out port of the AB switch to the shore cable TV input on the GloMax.

Our GloMax has an input for shore cable TV and GloMax analog antenna (radar arch) and a single output that goes to a 3-way splitter that connects to the 3 tvs on the boat.

Thanks,

Mike

Forget the Glomax. With a satellite receiver the regular over-the-air signal is redundant. Otherwise the setup should work.

Mike -

Sounds similar to how my boat was setup when I got it. The only difference is that there is a port on the back of the Directv receiver that is supposed to be for other cable, in the event that the satellite is not available, to run the shore cable directly into.

In my case the output from the 3 way splitter was run into the back of the receiver. Then, one cable runs from the directv to the cable input of the salon tv.

In my case, the shore cable does not work. I don't know yet if there is a flaw in the setup, if the cable input in the locker is bad, or something else. My shore cable line is brand new, so I'm pretty sure it's not that.

Over the weekend, I reconnected all 3 receivers directly to all 3 tvs, so each room can watch their own.

I also installed a 26 inch lcd tv in the salon.

I still can't get the shore cabel to work. I know I don't really need it, but I didn't really want to have to run the KVH all the time we are at the marina, either.

I kept one small TV (mid or aftcabin) hooked up to be able to use the Glomax. When we cruise, I do like to beable to hit autoprogram and tune in the local channels for news, weather etc. We cruise in Canada quite often and you can't beat Hockey Night in Canada.....on the CBC eh!
