I'm replacing my power steering pump. My marina wanted $1300, so I'm doing it myself. Found a used pump for $100.00! It looks pretty straightforward.

Any helpful hints or gotchas?

Thanks.

Did your used pump come with the pulley already assembled? Make sure they are the same. If not, go to Autozone or Orielly's and rent a power steering pulley puller(say that fast 3 times) You can also by the power steering insert for about $39 from Orielly's. That way you use the existing reservoir, but just change the internal pump. It is held on with 3 bolts and a power valve, you still have to pull it off the motor though.

The cable is fine. Marina did a pressure test and found very low press. from pump along with burnt fluid color.
