I've done quite a bit of work to our boat including a new 19" widescreen LCD, gps, chartplotter, radar, foam matt pads, LED cockpit lights... but the admiral really likes this 'upgrade' as it allows us to flip the center panel up and out of the way without removing it. Takes only minutes once you are OK with drilling the hole.

So far, the one that tops my list was DirectTV at the dock. So, now we're researching on cockpit TVs and mounts to make admiral totally happy.

That is a great idea. Think I'll steal it from you & do mine that way.
Thanks for the great idea.

I agree .....it's a great upgrade.....I have it on my 410DA......however it was already done when I bought my boat by the previous owner.....I've been enjoying it ever since.....how do I add to someone's (Sea Gull's) approval rating if he didn't even post here?

I will add that in my case, the installer used the 'lift the dot' type of fastners to hold the panel up even when the going gets a little bouncy.

Good idea. Nice and clean.

My Admiral's favorite upgrade so far is I had my son Luke add heat.

He was small enough to run the hoses.......

And he's pasty white just like his old man.

I did the same thing with all 3 of the rear vinyl pieces on our 340. I got tired of taking them down and putting them away for a short period of time. Now they all snap up to the arch and it opens up the aft cockpit very fast.

With out adding and more holes or snaps I found another option for the center one. I unzip it and climb on the cabin door and unsnap the center snap on the radar arch for the front bimini. Then I flip the center piece up and snap it on the center snap of the arch. Sounds complicated but its not. I don't know how well it would work will cruising at a higher speed, but it works well at the dock.

Can you tell us more? I'd like to add a vent for A/C & heat from the cabin to the helm. I'm not sure how I would run the ducts.
All the hose runs were pretty easy with all the mid cabin panels out. The toughest one was beneath and behind the cabin step.

That was February man. We don't see the sun until now....

This one took a little while to find but I finally found it hidden in this thread, go to page 2:

Yep Wesley found the right thread.

Doug, I suppose you can use the same ducting for both heat and AC. Go check HeaterCradft out. I'm not sure if they make a Heater-A/C unit but they have nice stuff. I ordered my kit direct

Todd I hope you cleaned all that stuff out of the cabin before your big trip. :)

Yeah, she came together nicely over the weekend. We still are awaiting getting it back from the dealer but we think we're ready to go when it is(hopefully tomorrow afternoon.

Doug,

I hadn't thought about this until you just mentioned it. The AC on the 280 is under the aft dinette seat. Air outlet is on the port side. So:
1. if you could get a tee installed on the outlet side and,
2. then run a duct along the hull on the port side behind the electrical panel,
3. under/behind the mirrored storage space in the cave,
4. and up beside the the forward port side speaker,
it might work. Of course only when gen was running to power AC. Not the best place in the wold for an AC/Heater outlet, but given the real estate there aren't many options.

Speaking of generators, What is the mid-season report on the R2D2 Genset upgrade?

Well, my boat came with the 'eyebrow' cuts in the enclosure, so I can't call that an upgrade..... But my wife's favorite upgrade were the subwoofers under the cockpit bench. She's not that into music, but is strangely attached to the subs.

My wife's favorite upgrade was the bridge and extra ten feet we added to the 320 DA.

Matt -
Did those make a noticable improvement in music in the cockpit?

I completely revamped the audio on my boat and there was a HUGE improvement. I have (2) 12" subs in my cockpit bench along with 2pr of high end 6.5" mids and 3/4" tweeters. On the bridge, I have (2) 10" subs and 2pr. of the same mids/tweets. There are 2 monster-sized sub amps and 1 monster sized 4 channel amp to drive the mids/tweets.

So, unless my wife belts out an operatic 'movement', which she is inclined to do from time to time, the music is great and, as my wife says, 'powerful and moving'. :smt001
