I was thinking about adding 2 new speakers up in the bow seating area and replacing the regular speakers, and was having trouble deciding where I could put them. Then I was cleaning the boat last week and pulled the horn off to better wax and clean around it, and happened to peer into the horn hole and saw two speaker sized cut outs behind the bow back cushion. I took two pics, one looking the horn hole at the hole and another of the horn cutout and the cushion they are behind. Anyone know if these are in fact for additional speakers, or has anyone mounted speakers in them? I never use the cushion, and it looks like its only held in by 3 or 4 screws so I could always take them out and remount it no problem later on.

I don't recall speakers ever being an option in that location. I would venture a guess that they are access holes for the cleats. If they're cut into a flat area, you certainly could use them for speakers. If you had to, cut them bigger - just make sure the bigger hole won't stick out past the cushion, in case you ever decide to change it back.

If you wanted, you could have the cushion made smaller and then re-attach it between the speakers.

Or, forget about the cushion all together and just put some big honkin' speakers up there!

Hm I didn't think of them as cleat access. They dont look perfectly flat, but I bet some starboard or similar could be shaped into a tapered type washer to flatten it out enough. I guess I should just pull the cushion and measure.
