Next to my E120 MFD at the helm is a big blank space begging for another display. E120's are only after market now and I don't want to do a major electronic refit. Is adding another resale E120 as simple as a power cable and then Seatalk or NMEA cable from the current unit to the new one so I can choose sounder or radar inputs? Seems I would have to dedicate the current one to being the plotter since it has the map chip in place??? I'd like to see sounding and or radar on the new one by selecting pages while keep chart plotter on the existing one. Am i over simplifying?

I think it depends on if they are newer or older units. Some are analog and can be linked together. If it's the newer digital ones, you can use a sea Talk switch.

Darren Weaver of Middle River Electronics is a great guy and should be able to lead you in the right direction. 4432784241

Not sure what makes newer or older but I'm working with original electronics on a 2008 vessel so would like to keep in the same or new revision date range for a second display.

I've attached the SeaRay factory drawing for the dual E120 setup. Looks like the only connection is a 'crossover cable". The slave E120 also had its own Raystar GPS connected, presumably just for redundancy. I think as long as you ensure both units have the same firmware/software version installed they will get along just fine. If the units are connected properly they will share charts and I believe you can use either unit for whatever function you choose.

riverdaze, On the E120 Classic,or hybrid you can choose 1 unit to be the master plotter and the other is considered the slave unit I have this set up and you can have whatever view you wish on either display. It is a simple connection however for true redundancy each unit should have its own GPS antenna, chart chip, and technically ( although never really on our type of cruising) seperate power supplies. Both units Must have chart chips you cannot share from one to the other.

I am removing All of my Raymarine equiptment this week for a refit so if your looking for equiptment pm me.

What are you going to install?

This is not accurate in my experience. From the E-Series Reference Manual:
"If you have a network of E-Series Displays, the chart card data is accessible from any Display
on the network, provided that the unit with the card is powered on."

On my system, if you remove 1 card then you won’t get any details on that plotter. Just a generic chart .
Woody, I have been oogling over a friend and CSR members Furuno set up for a year now and decided to go with Furuno TZTouch 2 displays and the brand new Furuno NXT Radar. The radar auto tracks and analyzes targets.
