We have had rain here ( South Eastern Wisconsin ), Heavey Rain for over a week straight. The problem is the boat took on a gray haze finish even the windows. My dock neighbors and I spend some time washing our boats several times. A few spots on the platform had to be rubbed out and rewaxed. The baot had had another wax job three weeks ago. Been in this 20+ years and have never came occross this level of stain. Just curious if any one had same cconditions.

Interesting you mention this. Our boat gets washed every Friday and this time of year looks pristine for a week making me wonder if it needs a wash job. Howver, this past week it has been a mess with black streaks all over it following our heavy rain. We live in West Michigan along the lake shore across from Milwaukee. My boat guy had a hard time getting it clean, and it was was waxed about three weeks ago.

Makes you wander just how bad this crap in the air is. A friend said, it is a byproduct of coal power plants. I did not write this in my intal post but, I imagine it would be a good idea to clean the canvas too. Usualy a two day program, one day to clean and let it dry and the next day to re-waterproof it. Sounds like a justification to take a day off!

We do have a coal fired plant about 7 miles west of our dock. The boat wash guy mentioned that as a possibility. Annoying. Glad it does not happen often. The thing is we were in Mac City for a week in July and the Shepler ferrys did a number on us with diesel soot. I just cleaned and waxed that stuff off.
