Anyone with a 420/44DB ever accessed the arch by unzipping the canvas at the arch? I do not want to have to unlace/re-lace the top to get it zipped back up.

Anyone with any experience here?

Need to pull my horn down and clean it. The solenoid is sticking in it.

Bennett, I tried unzipping ours to get access to the arch - the zipper is a pain to slide, it needs the pull to be accessible on the top and bottom (vs just the top) and I could squeeze an arm through but not really good enough to do any work.

For the winter layup the marina completely unzipped it for the shrink wrap bracing, the ONLY way I could get the zipper back on and done up was to unlace/re-lace the top. Had great access to the arch however and got all maintenance/cleaning done. The unlace/re-lace wasn't that bad ... changing the starboard impeller was worse :)

Would like to add an air horn on mine - where is your pump/accumulator tank? I've seen some done on the bridge and some in the ER.

My pump and tank are situated on the starboard side of the integrated swim platform. Hell to access also. Access is gained by crawling behind the gen over top of rudders, and a million other things that “bite.”

Thanks for the info about the top. Maybe it is possible to loosen the strings on the top enough to get the zipper restarted and then tighten them up....

I thought the same but found that the aft part of the top needs to be pulled up and over the support bar to get sufficient slack to do up the zipper. After several iterations of loosening the strings and trying to get the zipper started I just bit the bullet and unlaced it. Was the fastest solution in the end!

As for the airhorn pump/tank, that seems like the most difficult position that could have been chosen. Any logic as to why so far from the arch?

Yes definitely a pain to get to the top of the arch. Not the safest way to accomplish this but I recently added a wifi extender to the top of the arch by hanging out the port side with the glass removed. Had the admiral there with a firm grip on my belt just in case.
