I have the 7.6 BTD Westerbeake on my '02 380 Sundancer. On shore power the generator runs great, but when it is switched to DC it will continue putting out for 5 minutes or so and then stops performing. I've checked breakers, fuses etc on genie and everything is working great.
Has anyone experienced this kind of issue before? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I think you have a misprint----" On shore power the generator runs great"

Do you mean a/c runs great on shore power?

Do you get any error codes on the AC display? LO AC?

If the AC works on shore power, but shuts down when running off the generator, you might have a generator that's not putting out enough electricity. The generator should be putting out 60 Hz. Check this with a multi-meter at one of the outlets on the boat. If it's putting out less than 60 Hz the AC system isn't getting enough power to run, so it shuts itself off for protection.

You say DC in your post but the generator is still AC, just like shore power.

I have the same generator, and was having an issue with the microwave tripping the microwave breaker while on generator, but working fine on shore power. I checked the generator output under load and everything was fine (124VAC/60Hz). It was a one time thing, so I'm still keeping an eye on this. Sounds similar, so maybe something with the 7.6BTD. I'll watch this thread and add anything I think might help, but unfortunately, I don't have an immediate solution to offer.

if u were overloading the genset the breaker on the genset would trip... Make sure ur putting out correct VOLTAGE .
