In the forward berth of our 420 DB we don't like the AC blower running constantly as it dries out the air and makes it generally uncomfortable while heating or cooling. I changed the setting to intermittent which only blows when the compressor kicks in. However i noticed that based on where the thermometer is located on the unit (on the front of the fins) it will only register an accurate reading when the blower is running. Therefore the wall mounted panel will reflect a much lower temperature reading while ambient air in the room is much warmer. I think the only way to have the blower set to intermittent and still accurately read the temp is to relocate the temp sensor from the front of the unit to somewhere in the room. Has anyone else faced this issue?

I know in reading the owners manual to most of the cruisair units it does talk about relocating the temperature probe device for a more accurate reading when using the fan set to intermittent.

Dean, thanks for posting. I have changed the settings on my units the same as you have and I am seeing similar results to what you are seeing. I was going to start looking into it this weekend but it would have taken me some time to figure out that the thermostat location could be a factor. I am Going to look into moving The thermostat. Thanks again.

I had the same problem, especially up front in the vberth. Blew to hard when on, got hot when off.

You can adjust the fan speed. I set mine to a lower speed value when not heating/cooling and it ramps up when the compressor kick on. I left the fan in continuous mode. Huge improvement.

There is a sequence of button presses that gets you into the menu. I don’t have my notes on how it’s done but google it.

We put up with the fan blowing on low and then the temp. is consistent... 6 of one, half dozen of another?

I tried setting the fan speed low but all of my units set a code saying there was not enough water flow and I think it was because when the unit was on with the low fan setting it wasn’t pulling enough heat out of the condenser and the temperature was getting to high on the unit. As soon as I raised the fan speed up the problem went away. Unfortunately I had to raise it up to a speed that was louder than I wanted.

Been there and done that...in the winter with the fans blowing all of the time, it is to cool. As you guys state, in the summer it gets too hot and readings are never accurate. I wanted them to act like mine at home do-read the correct temp and blower runs intermittently with the compressor.

Moved the temp sensor from in front of the unit under the bed and placed it under the edge of the bed. If my cord was longer, I would maybe have located it elsewhere. We have a very small fan that runs on low speed pointed up at the “ceiling” in the V berth. This circulates just enough air(like a ceiling fan) to regulate the temp perfectly.

In the salon, I moved the temp sensor and mounted it on the black board that the TV is mounted to. It is mounted down low on the board. I took a couple of stand alone thermometers and used them to adjust/calibrate the thermostat on the wall.

Both fans come on with the compressors and work just like at home. If I want the room at 74*, set the it on 74*. Both have a differential of +/-1.5*.

Didn’t know if it was possible to relocate it but seems it’s doable. Not a big deal now as the nights are still cooler but I’m seeing close to a 10 deg differece in actual temp and the temp on the panel. Won’t get to it this weekend but will research further. Let me know if you tackle it.

I haven’t dug into it but about how long is the temp sensor?

You can purchase different length temp probes/cables. I moved mine to the other side of the salon and also relocated the master probe to underneath the edge of the bed.

I've seen units freeze up if the fan speed is set too low.
