i want to install an ac system but have no idea how to any pictures or info would be great

Check out Mermaid ac on the web.....they will have everything you need to know for a diy.....great products delivered to your door.

Look at Boat Parts & Accessories on eBay and then Ventilation/Plumbing....I think. Anyway, there are a number of companies selling units. For you boatr you could probably get by with a single 8000 btu unit. When I was looking I really liked the looks of the Webasto FCF units. They are pretty small and compact and you can also buy an installation kit.

Your bigger challenge may be getting enough juice to the boat to power it. You will need a dedicated 30 amp circuit and if your boat did not come with air you may not have it. Bringing it in is not too hard. If interested I have a small panel I was going to use on my last boat that I would be willing to sell for $50. All you would then need is an additional power cord, inlet and a transfer switch. If you have a generator things get a bit more complicated with the transfer switches. Remember, if you do not have a generator the AC will only work when you are plugged in.

Agree with Mermaid, we have 3 units that have run non stop for 8 years. Make sure to get reverse cycle so you can have heat also. I would be looking at a minimum of 10K BTU

I had a 9k unit on my 30 and i could hang beef in the cabin.I did have a oversized pump installed when the original died 500gph instead of 250gph.

Agreed better water flow, the more efficient. We have one 3500 GPH for 3 units. Pees like a race horse

I have installed 2 units in 2 different boats. Call Tom at http://www.flagshipmarine.com/ he was very helpful with my install. It's not that hard to do. For that size boat I would go with an 18000 BTU, no less.

Mike, no disrespect intended but, 18000 btu? Seriously? I think that would be a waste of money. I had 10k in my 340 and I too, could hang meat.

My 30' still has the 9K BTU unit that Sea Ray installed in 1987. It gets the cabin ice cold on a hot summer day.

Is it not nice, when people post asking for advice. Then never respond back to us that take our time to help. :smt021
