I am a new boater. Own 300 Searay. I have received different advice from fellow baoters. When on shore power I should turn batteries off and turn on AC converter when the boat will not be used for a week. I am informed, yes because it will keep the batteries charged.

Another friend indicated not really neccassary if boat is not used for a couple of days.

Any help here would be appreciated thanks.:smt100

Are there any DC powered equipment that you wish to keep on while you are away? If not, then it really doesn't matter. The charger will keep them charged whether the battery switches are on or off. Some people like to turn off the switches as a habit - just in case they left something else on. Even so, the charger will keep the batteries charged under most circumstances.

Bilge pumps and CO monitor are wired independently of the switch, so don't worry about those.

Thanks Dennis..I don't keep any DC equipment on. I keep shore power on for the Fridge and the AC converter for the batteries. I was concerned that the batteries would overheat. Thanks again..
