a wonderful story from Florida

It's sad when anyone dies, period. @SR400DB said it well though, at least that's how I feel. I live in the city and get excited when a criminal get's what they deserve.

Regarding "The thugs need to realize there may be immediate consequences" and "just think it's sad these thugs felt the need to steal" I don't see any thug thinking twice if they know the other party may have a gun. They are killing each other nightly in my city, probably over drugs and/or gang crap, and they know they all have guns. And I have absolutely no sympathy for "felt the need to steal"; it was a choice, we all have to make choices. I grew up dirt dirt dirt poor. Stealing was never one of my choices.

What's sad is the jewelry store guy will be investigated, and possibly charged.

A 'freakin' men!
My father passed when I was 2 and I was the youngest of 5.
NEVER was being a POS criminal going to be acceptable in our household with my mother running the show and by the time I got big enough to give my her any kind of lip, I knew how dumb that would be as any one of my three older brothers would beat my ass.

There are no repercussions for some of these kids and worse yet, the parents (or parent or grand parent) excuse it for a variety of BS reasons.

“My baby a good boy! Why you cops boderin him? That ain’t his gun under his pillow. His baby momma can tell you da trud. He be home wid me all night”.
Watched First 48 marathon all last night.
Some portions may be disturbing to viewers, all suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

I just hope this thread doesn't decay us as a group like we saw with the whole Covid vac thread from some months ago.

Nope, plain and simple-

They made the choice to commit armed robbery which put an innocent citizen in danger. Innocent citizen responded in kind and thugs got what they deserved.

We need more of this type "correction" in our communities, maybe the th

Most thugs do not engage in proper firearm training or real practice in accuracy (IMHO), more than likely the legal gun owning citizen did, and had the upper hand.

I disagree. The gang violence is usually drive by type shootings. They know the chance of being fired back upon is slim. But the thugs doing the robberies and terrorizing of citizens would think twice if they started getting shot by their victims. They would look for softer targets. Time for Bernie Goetz part 2.

I see you're quoting the matriarch of the Nuffin family.

Mamado Nuffin has sons named Dindu Nuffin and Ayntno Nuffin.

"My baby Dindu Nuffin!"

... and sad some rich white guy thinks it's wonderful...

And you think this post is sick and f'd up. You my friend stepped way over a line, this forum should never see a statement like that. We're all equal here and color agnostic. Perhaps you should join another forum if you think like that.

But as to the rest of your post thinking it's wonderful, see @mrsrobinson post #21. That is pretty spot on for me at least.

My home was broken into Halloween 7 years ago. I came home around 8PM having been at work all day, to find my side porch door literally smashed in, like a WWF Wrestler busted thru it. I live in an older house so the original door was made of wood/glass. I promise you, if I was home, and I owned a gun then, I would have shot with no questions asked. The MFs thought it would be funny to smash my new flat screen TV on the floor since they did not find the cash they were looking for.

I was sitting in my house around midnight, after the police, detectives and who knows who else was in my house left, realizing "Crap, I no longer have a door to close/lock".

The best warning is the sound of a round being chambered. If that is not heeded then….

If they are in your house uninvited with you and your family inside, then they are not deserving of a warning....none. But...it is on you to make sure it is not your son or another loved one coming home unannounced. In the dark, that is a danger.

I've been a security consultant for 32-years and know first hand that having a house alarm lessons your chances of becoming a statistic. I've had a security system in each home I've lived in even before I started in the business and think everyone should have one. Is having an alarm a guarantee that you won't get robbed..... no, but it is a deterrent and the first line of defense.

We live in the suburbs on 2-acres and can't see any of our neighbors homes, so they can not be relied on to keep an eye out for us, or our home and vice versa. All my family members know how to use it and it does not impede on our lifestyle, actually it's just the opposite, it gives me, my wife and my children piece of mind knowing that while out, it was armed and we'll never arrive back home without knowing if a door was kicked in or even worse, an intruder is still there, since we'd have been notified by the monitoring station that the system had tripped in our absence and the police dispatched.

While at home and disarmed, anyone entering/exiting sounds a chime that can be heard from multiple keypads located throughout the home and at night, once everyone has settled in, a siren would alert us to a breach that allows me to be prepared for an intruder, who would suffer from a case of lead poisoning if he chose to continue to enter, once he heard the sirens after kicking in a door or breaking a window.

I know I'm going to get grief from people saying...... "I would never want to live like that", or "living in your house must be like living in a jail". I get it.... it's an option that we have, it keeps me and my family safe, buys us piece of mind and me time to act when/if the time comes that I have to. It could do the same for you. That's my alarm system sales pitch.
