A trip down memory lane...post pics of your first boat

Yes that is Puget Sound.
If you want the great story read this:

Pretty cool, Todd. Thanks for sharing. I was not a member here when that was first posted. Did you ever make your trip to Oregon to see her? Do you have any recent updates?

I think I have mentioned that I grew up in the Seattle area in a community called South Park very close to Boeing Field. The field is actually right across the Duwamish. My boating started in the NW. My grandfather lived in Chelan and used to take us out on his old Dorsett and later I learned to waterski behind the Thompson.

To me, the NW is boating. I wint to my first unlimited race in 1956 at the tender age of 6 and then didn't miss a race on Lake Washington until I moved in 1977. My mother (83) lives in Des Moines just a few blocks from the marina and when I visit her I have to stop and walk through.

Thanks again.

The Chris Craft Cobra was always one of my favorite boats when I was growing up.
Here is a picture of one I took a few years ago at the Antique Boat show on Lake Norman.

What's the story behind your model of the Cobra?

Thats is a great story and I loved the video of the launch. Music on the video caught my attention as it is by one of my clients.

I also grew up in the NW and my family always had boats. We fished for Salmon around Whidbey Island almost every weekend. Learned to Water ski on lakes in So. Oregon.

When we lived in Bellvue, we could hear the roaring engines from thos hydros on Lake Washington. We went to several races as well.

Shawn, you may remember the Miss Excide and also the Miss Bardahl? they were always heavy competition. One of my fathers co workers helped develop the first nitrous system for the Excide. It was thrilling to watch the boats neck and neck until the Excide hit the nitrous. I think they all used nitrous after that.
