Just got the new Power and Motoryacht magazine and saw a short article about a new marina that is supposed to open in Brookyln in the spring. Looks interesting from the marina's website: http://one15brooklynmarina.com

I am thinking a city trip will be in order next season!!

That's fantastic news! Finally one of the primary shorelines will be properly utilized.

That's awesome. I did alot of work in that park and on those peers over the last 7 or so years. Layed up miles of fence along with tons of demo, rehab ,refab, layed tons of steel and get this, I fire watched for an UNDERWATER welder! I had to look at the water and make sure the guy under the water didn't start an underwater fire. Anyway nice to c that I'll actually get good use out of what I built.

Yep, I saw that too. We certainly intend to spend some time there and check it out.

I hope it's protected, it bet it's not :(

The website for the marina claims they have a system to reduce the wave action to less than one foot.

Looks pretty cool... I'll check it out for a weekend...

I contacted the marina asking about the rates for transient dockage and to get an idea of how many slips will be used for transients. They responded indicating that 100 slips will be for transients and sent me the attached regarding the rates.

A bit pricey for a marina in brooklyn. Especially with no real amenities.. I guees the view really ups the numbers lol. Still looks cool and I would like to spend a day or two

Well, prices are competative to LLM. The question is what they have to offer, other than the views. They bette have good sea-wall, b/c <1' wake is relative. I'm sure that North Cove Marina and Chelsey Pier claim similar conditions, but you don't want to stay there, despite the price for transient slip.

Harold, did they say what's the deal regarding transportation? I really hope that it'll be similar as LLM, the ferry is very convenient. Unfortunately, the fact that it stops operating after 7:45pm, creates extra hassle if you want to stay in the city for dinner and/or a show. Perhaps, subway is close by the marina, to help getting around.

I've seen the site the view is awesome. In front of you that is. Behind you is the BQE (expwy). Not much else, there is a park there .
i was excited to read the article also. I'd take a car ride first before I spend $200 per night to get tossed around.

I heard it's pretty calm at North Cove... Never been there though..

Chelse Piers on the other hand blows... Can't even hang out on the boat at the dock without wanting to throw up...

Went for the day once... Couldn't even imagine spending the night...

It will probably be the same case in Brooklyn...

Oh well... Fire Island here we come.

126 days till I'm back in the water.... Not that I'm counting or anything..

We stayed there few years ago when delivering my friend's 34'er sailboat. It was nice during late hours. Then, at around 5-5:30am, when ferries started running, his wife jumped out of the boat and spent good 30 min on the docks. We departed shortly after.

The sea-wal they have is not as effective as you'd imagine. I don't know if my crew would feel much more comfortable on our boat (much bigger and heavier), but I never felt the urge to go back there.

At that time, we paid $6 p/f for a slip with no ammenities. When we asked where are the bathrooms, we were told to seek one in a lubby of adjacent building. Location was great. The views, I like looking at the city from Jersey side, vs. the other way around.

I do not know if there is a ferry stop nearby, but I think there might be. Subway is close by at the Clarke Street station and Bourough Hall. The marina's website has a list of the nearby subways. There are also car services that you can call. If the demand increases I would imagine that the yellow cabs would start making the rounds past there as well.
Should be access to good amenities: shops, restaurants, banks, etc. in Brooklyn Heights and Court Street area.
Joe is correct, the view behind the marina is the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway and the Brooklyn Heights Promenade above you.
Next time I have a chance and brave the drive into Brooklyn, I am going to try to drive by the area. Arlene's office is not that far from the marina........Thinking a mid-week stay while she is working could be in order........
The 4th of July fireworks could be very interesting from there, if I can afford the 7 day minimum stay they are asking for.

I spent a day at North Cove on a friends boat once. Don't plan on going back. The open entrance to the river allowed the wakes from passing ferries to enter the marina and then they all bounced off the sea walls and concrete bulkheads.

Pretty decent location, walking distance to subways, short Uber Ride to lower Manhattan, and about the same price as Liberty Landing. I'll probably try to do a weeknight there.
Probably won't be as bumpy as the places exposed right on the Hudson, but probably not as protected as Liberty Landing either.
We stayed at Liberty Landing a couple of months ago, and it was smooth as silk. We didn't go across to Manhattan because we're always in the city anyway. We did go up to Hoboken for dinner and to pick up dessert from the Cake Boss. The light rail system is not that great, seemed to take forever to get up to hoboken, but Uber was only about $8.00 or $9.00 on the way back, and took less than 15 minutes.
Now, if NYC would develop Governor's Island with a nice marina and shuttles back and forth to the Battery, that would be great.

I guess I got onto the marina's email distribution list. I just received this email:

[h=1]ONE°15 Brooklyn Marina winter special.[/h]

It's hard to believe it given the winter weather, but the Spring boating season is fast approaching!

Construction of the new marina is well under way, and berths are available. We are looking forward to the beginning of the season on May 1st.

As we continue to think about how best to serve local boaters, we've lowered our berthing rates for boats under 33' to get everyone excited for the boating season.

Please review our new rates and contact us to secure your reservation!
