A Florida based 1987 390 Express Restoration

I did my A/C digital thermostat conversion today. It turned out great. I used 2 relays and got rid of the old fan speed and temp controls. Everything works off the digital controls now. Thanks for the idea.

Dr. MircoChip Can you tell me what kind of paint you used on the the dash that would hold up to the sun. We need to do ares, it wasn't taken care of, and just one of a dozen projects we have to do. thanks

Jim

I used 2 part top of the line automotive Valspar polyurethane. I had the dealer mix in a flattening agent. I sprayed two full wet coats and then after it tacked up I set the HVLP gun to very low pressure so the droplets would be very big and pulled the gun back so the surface would be textured to match the OEM finish. It is called spraying a dry coat. Takes some practice but it creates a nice non reflective finish. Also the dry coat needs a very fast drying reducer so the droplets do not blend.

Here is a closeup

what has anyone put for a finish on a teak and holly cabin sole?

Dr MicroChip. First, love the work and the sharing. I am taking notes and reviewing as much as possible. But now I'm greedy. Most of your links do not work. What is your "restoration" thread link? I've found a couple of threads; I've seen your gallery but it seems there is more out there. Please post some corrected links. Admiringly your, rgp717
