Well, even though the fishing conditions could have been better, I still managed to reel in a few keepers. I did let them all go though. Between the fishing, and fireworks, it was a pretty good weekend.

Nice catch. The only thing in our lake that big would be catfish. I really enjoyed the saltwater fishing when we were in Galveston. It dont get any easier than sticking some squid on, and dropping it down. We caught dog fish, catfish, and sharks bottom fishing. Were you trolling when you caught those?

Drift / bottom fishing over some wrecks we know about in the area.

Matt, Been to that cove some myself. Where do you keep your boat? JC

Not trying to Hi jack.... Pirate is in TN now. Last winter we were in Key Largo / Ocean Reef and we spent some time in the middle / lower keys. The boat sure enjoys the fresh water and covered slips up here. It's like a fountain of youth for them, but island cruising is a big draw. The relocation costs have become frightening though.

I just figured out how to catch the large mouth in the lake, so I was pretty exited about those fish. It is way different than fishing the small creeks and ponds I am used to. I am looking forward to reeling in a nice 8 pounder.
