I have been a viewer (with the occasional question) of this website for a couple of years, so thought it was time to post a few photos from Perth, Western Australia. Our main boating season is from November - April, although we can pretty much boat all year round. Our 300DA is penned (slipped is the US term I think) at Hillarys marina which is about 25kms north of the city. Most of our boating is along the Perth coastline with weekend trips to Rottnest Island which is around 10 mile offshore. Rottnest is easy to get to and once at the island there are many protected bays to anchor or use a mooring and a very good pub. We will also venture down to Fremantle for lunch and up the river to the city if the weather is good.

We have a reasonable number of Searays at our marina, although local flybridge boats such as Riviera and Caribbean tend to be more popular. This is our second Searay having upgraded from a 2008 240DA, I understand that our boat was a former fresh water boat from the US which was imported into Australia by one of the local boat brokers (they imported around 100 boats over a 18 month period) when the AUD was high against the USD.

Cheers

Hillarys marina is only 5 minutes from home, so we like it and the marina/boating facilities are quite good by Australian standards. The pens and boating facilities are still operated by the State Government so it is still "relatively" cheap compared to some of the private berthing facilities in Perth.

Now wait a darn minute....if AUS is on the southern half of this big world, why aren't those photos upside down?

Just kidding. They're beautiful....nice clear water, calm seas, blue skies! Doesn't get any better than that. Thanks for sharing them.

Couple more photos for everyone. The first photo is from a holiday house we visit which is about 200km south of Perth (not too far from Margaret River) - great spot with good beach fishing, no shops and only about 50 houses all built on sand dunes overlooking the ocean. I would like to take the boat down there one day for a couple of weeks. The other photos are from Rottnest Island or near our marina.

Average water temp is around 20c (around 68f) and will drift slightly lower in winter and slightly higher in summer. Wetsuit required in winter for surfing, but no need in summer months. It seems lately just the right temp for Great White sharks which are visiting in increasing numbers and causing a few problems......

I have seen the search vessels for the missing plane berthed in Fremantle a couple of time when they must be back for resupply. We also have visits from US warships quite regularly for R & R.

Cheers Brad

Welcome - boy those pictures make me both sad and happy given I am at Chicago O-hare (with the requisite Chicago temps) looking at those pics right now - I did not have my boat with me unfortunately but lived in Perth for a while - I have to say i cannot remember any sea rays when I was there. I loved the area and spent many days on Cottesloe watching the "scenery" and loved fishing out at Abrolhos. Unfortunately i also had to spend a lot of time at Darwin so ...... anyway, focus on the positive - i have some great memory's.

welcome again - more sunny weather white sand pictures are always welcome.

Cottesloe..... great beach with plenty of "scenery" to offer. We get down there quite often for a bite to eat as some of the cafes. I have not been to Darwin, sounds like you were in town for oil and gas related work?

I was down at the boat this morning with the kids (school holidays here) so took a few happy snaps whilst my daughters were practicing driving the tender around. We have about 400 boats at the marina with sizes ranging from 20ft to 80ft. Bit breezy this morning, but lots of blue sky and around 27c You can probably spot the odd Searay in the pics, although they are definitely in the minority against the local brands

Thanks for the pics. A little jealous though.

Only 4 1/2 months until I am back in.
