Another calm morning on Lake Superior as we enter our home port of Munising Bay through the East Channel.

The harbor of Grand Marais, Michigan located on the East end of Picture rocks National Lakeshore.
They have a "state" dock just to the left of the pic.

Lake Superior lays down nicely for most days throughout the summer months. It's often like a sheet of glass.
Once late October rolls around the winds really kick-up often and hang around though March.
The famous "Gales of November".
Here are a few windy, late March pics after the ice had left - the wind had just started:

Miners Castle - For perspective you can barely see a deck type platform just to the right of the "turrets".
Note the two "turrets" - this photo I took was on of the last with both of them present.
Later that evening the inner "turret" was broken off by the winds - big news in our local paper :).

This is Bridal Veil falls that same day with the wind blowing the water up into the trees.

Thought I'd ad a few Off-season pics:

Grand Island - North point with a "pancake" ice flow - early April
Shallow shelf off point is 15 to 30 feet deep.

Grand Island North Lighthouse - located behind the photographer in the previous photo.

Miners Castle - February (notice the missing turret mentioned earlier)

That is amazing. What's the water temp in the summer - can you swim without your lips turning blue?

End of May surface temp is in the upper 50's F.

By August along the beaches and shallow coves it will get into the mid to upper 70's. Comfortably refreshing on a hot summer day.

Deeper water areas over 50 feet are a different story - 15 feet down it's stayin in the low 50's for a high.

Here's an August pic near Chapel Beach with our sold 22 Pachanga.

Very Nice - Love the Rock Formations. Where did you post the photos? I can actually see them here at work.

Thank you for the pictures. They make lake boating seem very enticing.

Nice looking boat too.....twins with High 5 props....neat idea, I'll bet they bite real well when you push the throttle ahead to go up on plane.

All the photographs are posted and referenced from our personal "hobby" web site http://www.midwestconnection.com

For Sure - we've been real happy with them - the extra blades give a good "push" when getting on plane and when loaded down. Not nearly as much slip as with 3 blades.

Super pictures, I love the light house in fall colors.....that one must have been taken right after labor day, right? :)

Close - Actually these were Labor Day :smt001
