You can confirm the generator is providing 60 hertz with a clock. If your microwave has a clock built in you can also use that.
Turn on the generator, set the clock. The instant the time changes, say from 12:00PM to 12:01PM start the stop watch that is built into your wrist watch.
Come back in say a half our. If the stopwatch and clock are still in sync you are close enough.
