A/C on all the time...

I suppose it's where in the country the boat is but for me here in the tropics mold and mildew are concerns. The fan runs at low speed on both units 24-7 to circulate air to control the biologics. The AC is also on 24-7 and when not using the boat set at 78. The materials used inside the boat especially the old Vitracore laminates are not very tolerant to wide swings in environmental conditions and have been known to delaminate and crack. I leave the fan running to also circulate air over the temperature probe so the unit operates to maintain average temperature throughout the boat.

We like our boat cold and have it cranked all the way down while we are cruising. Other times when not on the boat we let it bake. When we first bought this boat I discovered directions to force the compressor to run longer than it would with factory settings. The software has an "offset" mode where you can lower the temperature at which the compressor shuts off. I placed a candy thermometer on the bed and set the temperature contol to 60 degrees. That is about what the reading was in the berth. Then I set the offset to as low as it would go, I believe that is around -5. That forces the compressor to run longer to achieve the new "60 degrees" at the t-stat. With that program we can achieve 51 degrees in the berth and the rest of the cabin is around 68 degrees which we like. Living on the boat in bright sun and heat is wearing. We like to read in the aft cockpit and have a place to cool off after it becomes too warm. Our air runs almost 24/7 when we travel or are anchored, otherwise not at all.

We're in the water year round. The heat pump runs on AC or heat mode year round. Been doing this for many years. By far the most reliable system on the boat. Electric bill about $30 per month.

We run boat year round. Set heat to 60 in the winter when not there and use dehumidifier mode on three cabin units during spring summer and fall. The units cycle the air every couple of hours which drops temp by a few degrees and removes any humidity in the air. This keeps mold from forming with air circulating and keeps cabin around 78-80 degrees. Also keeps the electric bill down.
