So I ordered this to make flushing the A/C and Gen system easier. It is a modified strainer cap with a seacock and hose fitting. Does anyone have an opinion or guidance on whether this will back flush the A/C system? Thinking that running barnacle buster or 50% Phosphate solution will help clean and maintain growth but I am uncertain of how it is all plumbed (I'm a new owner). Any guidance or comments would be appreciated. Thanks

The PO installed those on my boat but either they weren't taken care of or their quality wasn't up to the salt water service; the valve handles were corroded off at the stems and they were pretty much a liability of failing at that point so I removed all of them.
The idea is to make circulating Barnacle Buster or similar easier to do on a routine basis. So, one hose from the BB circulating system hooks up to that fitting, and the other needs to hook up to the system discharge which will require a hose disconnect somewhere on the AC or generator discharge. Close the through hull valve then fill the BB container with fresh water and pump the fresh water through the system to purge out any salt water and loose debris. Then put the discharge hose in the BB container and mix the BB and circulate through the system. Then reverse the hoses and circulate the opposite direction. Takes about 3 hours of circulation and you are done.
They are also used to purge seawater from the system to lay up if the system is not in continuous use.
Perko makes a flushing strainer which I'll probably look to install as my strainers need replacing.

Great and thanks for the guidance. A fellow who caught me on FB Sea Ray owners posted the cap I posted. I ordered it looking the an "answer". The picture you posted-is this the Perko unit? Do you know where to purchase? The one I posted is a modified Perko cap and the seller seems to be an old salt in CT. Figure no harm in a try.
I appreciate your guidance and it makes a lot of sense. Thank you very much
