Hey guys,
I have a '99 180BR. In the front most storage compartment, which the Supplement Manual lists as the Anchor Storage Compartment, it collects water (when stored) and doesn't seem to have a drain hole.

Is this NORMAL or ???

When I bought it, that compartment had carpet glued in it. I removed it, thinking the drain hole was plugged, but I STILL can't find how it drains out.

Any thoughts or ideas? Thanks -

Hey Mate

Mine does the same. Thought about drilling a small hole through the wall so it can drain into the boat, but then I would have muddy water draining across the bow area walk way and onto the carpet. I will not drill into the hull area. Too much to dammage.
So for now I use a sponge to soak up any water when I get home.

I wash, polish and vacume the boat after a day on the water. Then park my boat in the garage so it stays dry.

Cheers
Mark

Interesting. I always thought there was one (I had a '00 180). I guess I never thought about if it drained below the front walk-way/deck or if it had two separate drains that went into the side storage compartments. I do know that mine never filled up.

Hmmm... Now I can't even remember... Is that front storage compartment sectioned off from the sides or is it all one compartment up there?

There's a small possibility that your owner's manual may show drains - there should be a part where it shows sort-of an "exploded view" of the deck and hull.

My 01 180 has the same problem. When I bought the boat it had about 2" of water in the front compartment. There were no drains, and the design is crap. I use a shop vac when I get water in there and then leave the cushion off until it is dry. I also store the anchor in the starboard bow comparment and only put small daily items in the front area.

OK. So do as stated above and make your own drains - into the side compartments. If it turns out that partitioning board is wood, just coat the inside of the newly cut hole with a wood sealant or silicone.

Mark, as you bring your anchor in, dunk it back it the water a bunch of times and that should just about clear all of the mud off. You could even tie the anchor off to your front cleat so it hangs a few feet into the water and then start moving - slowly of course - that will clear it off, as well.

Thanks Dennis

I have since bought a thick waterproof anchor bag as well so that it protects the boat from any accidental bangs. This also contains the water untill I get home to wash it out.

Cheers
Mark
