Hey -
Does anyone know how to remove it? I want to run some wires in the area and maybe leave the mirror out and use the space for storage. I promise not to use any power tools plugged into a Honda generator.
Thanks - Bob

Can you post a pic? Just can't remamber that model.
I may not be correct, but there there are some mounting screws hidden under reading lights.

hey boatmailster-

I'll have to take a pic but there are no lights. It's just a box with a forward facing mirror. I've had to find hidden screws securing panels before but thought I'd post in the off chance someone had got into this box already. Thanks for the reply - Bob.

Bob,

I can tell you how to run wires from the helm down to the storage area above the sofa in the salon. Maybe from there you could get to where you need to go. I have not messed with the mirrored area in the rear berth.

Found this pic from the Sea Ray brochure. The rear berth is the photo in the upper right hand quadrant. You can see the mirror and the box. It's the third photo from the last of this album, or photo number 46 of 48:

Hey Sadler -
Yep, that's it. Yes I'd appreciate the routing instructions. BTW - your site was very informative. We have the same boat and I had been attempting to devise a mounting for a kicker - very well done. We also have boated the Charleston area extensively after traileriing from north of Charlotte. Bob

Bob,
I'll be on the boat this weekend and will take a photo of the wire routing for you. Thanks, I struggled with designing a nifty mount for the 2hp Honda dinghy motor and in the end I gave up. The kicker bracket ended up working pretty well. It was however more expensive than I wanted.

Bob,

Sorry this took so long. Here are a couple of photos of where I ran the wires from the helm down to the salon.

I added speakers to the dash up at the helm so the captain could hear the sound; the only other speakers previously were the arch and the back of the cockpit and the sound was usually lost in the wind and water noise. So, to get to be able to hook the new speakers up to the front channel, I had to get wires from the helm to the salon.

I used a straightened coat hanger wire and starrting in the salon, put the wire into the crack you see in the photo just to the right of the right salon speaker. The wire came out up under the helm on the right side, where I could now use as the coat hanger as a chase to run the wires from the new speakers down to the salon to hook up to the existing speakers.

This may not really help you, but maybe it'll be useful at some point.

Best regards,

Sadler
