I have had an issue with both engines requiring very extended crank when the boat has set without running for 4-5 days. If I start it daily it fires right up. I am setting the chokes properly, pumping the throttle properly, there is fuel in the carb and not to much, the choke plate is closed, the float bowl has fuel in it, the mechanical fuel pump is okay and the tube is indicating fuel is there, there is good spark, the plugs are new, the distributor caps are new and the wires are good, I replaced the coils. This has been a characteristic for the last 3-4 years I have had the boat. Engines start and run well once started. They just crank and don't start for probably 60-120 seconds or more. Cranking speed is good and battery voltage is good. I am stumped. Especially since it is both engines. I have had the marina recently replace the check valve in the port tank because the generator would quit after 30-45 minutes apparently because it was too hard for the gen to pull fuel through it...I guess I am wondering if the Syncronizer could affect starting. On two long trips with the boat the last couple years the synchronizer quit working properly after a day or two of running. Now today the left tach blipped and the synchronizer blipped, makeing me wonder if it could be an issue. Can I unhook it and try starting cold to see if it has an effect? or could a module or something cause this. I am thinking my starters are taking quite a work out the last few years- even, if I only crank 15-20 seconds at a try. Thanks for the help!
