I'm helping a friend find a boat, we've found a 94 290 Dancer in great shape, my only concern is the power...I had a 300 DA with twin 5.7s, and my 310 EC has twin 7.4s...

To anyone with experience, what do you think of the 290 with twin 4.3 V6s?

Never driven one but have heard that vintage 290 is fine with the v6’s. It’s only a 9.5’ beam and I believe 7500-8k

The later versions like our 98 are much heavier and benefit from the bigger motors. I think you’re friend should be fine, but sea trial it and see how she runs

Put 4 blade props on it and they work fine had my 290 for 3 years and it runs great, but there were different HP versions of the 4.3 engines, mine are 180 hp each with weber 4 barrell carbs so it has a little more get up and go than a 2 barrell version
