90s 270DA Windlass Retrofit II

My rope locker can get a little funky? Maybe sea weed or something gets in there, I have never seen one not sealed in my area, maybe it’s a reagenal thing, in any case it came out great, next I have to work in the mounting of the windlass it self.

You are making progress.

No progress at the time, too cold, I will keep you posted

MM - you have it much better than a lot of us coastie- boaters that have to deal with salt water in the anchor locker.
When we pull the anchor rode in it tends to have a lot of sea life on it. Either sand, seaweed, small crustaceans, mud, these all tend to foul the locker, and can start to smell pretty bad when all the stuff starts to decay.

The anchorage that I frequent the most is odd. Very shallow where anchored and almost every time we retrieve my rode it is covered with tiny blue claw crab babies. I'm talking tiny-less than 1/4 inch. If we don't shake and clean the rode they end up fouling the locker in short order. A couple times each season I pull all 200' of chain and hose it all out.

Oh yea--I sealed up the hole behind the hinged mirror. I noticed a couple of times that the back of the mirror would have condensation dripping behind it, besides the odor that would creep out. Too close for comfort.

I can truly say my anchor locker has never had the crabs. LOL

You are right we do have a brief slice of great boating for a lot of reasons.

Hey MM, I think I pm’d you with my email, let me know if you got it.

Thanks

Has anyone connected a fuel consumption sensor up? Wondering if it’s worth it? I could add one to my gps for about $200. I’m thinking 3200-3300 is most likely the best fuel economy so may just be a waist of money ?

I did, that is where the numbers I gave you came from.

I am going to put them on my new boat too.

P.S. that would be better answered by the group at large as a separate thread question.

Opps, I thought this was the bigger thread.

my 1986 250DA had the opening behind the mirror but it wasn't sealed. Just pop the mirror up and there was the opening. Never noticed any issues.
