Hi Guys,

Pretty excited new owner of a mint condition 390 EC. Surveyed in above average condition with the most major problem being a small leak in the vacuume pump head, a blown light bulb, AC hose that supplies water needs replacing, and the impeller that pumps water to the gen needs to be fixed. He said all of this can be fixed with a few beers, and an afternoon.

Boat has new canvas, and just last week the owner installed new risers, manifolds, and all hoses that had salt water touch them. I just hired a semi to move it, and should take it under my control on tuesday. I'm looking forward to getting to know everybody here. I will post pics of it later on today.

Best,
Bill R

Welcome aboard and congrats on an awesome boat!
Look for the 390ec thread and look for the several 390 restoration threads here. They will teach you volumes about your boat.

Right, there's a lot about our 390s here! ... no surprise, it's the best Sea Ray ever!!!

Welcome aboard!

Well was trying to upload pics but guess I can't figure it out. Said they were too large. Tried to make them smaller and still won't work. Anyways, I plan on keeping it in Durham NC at falls lake. It's a small inland lake and I hope to move it to the coast in a few years once I get settled in.

The best I could do was put a profile pic up and a signature. I have lots of interior pics but too tired to mess with it anymore.

*Edit - signature and profile pic didn't attach! haha oh well. next time

Lets try it again! I think I can show the signature now. The best I got for you!

Bl00dy heck, that looks huge! I've read on here some people get "2ft-itise" on purchase of their boat, but I think I just got 9ft-itise!

Very nice.

Hey br1212...Go to photobucket.com and create a free account bayou can store all your photos there. Then youmcan copy then"img" file into a post and the pic will appear.Congrats on the new boat! There is a lot of valuable info here. Mark

Congrats! We picked one up 3 years ago to upsize from our 25'DA, and have been very happy with her ever since.
Tons of elbow room, and headroom (I'm 6'3"), oodles of storage (still can't find enough stuff to fill it all up), a big wide beam, the list goes on!
True, there is always something that needs adjusting, fixing, replacing.....but I am a DIYer and love to tinker.
I do believe my next project this fall will be to tear up the floor and get rid of a leaky water tank, but with all the knowledge and help I've gained from just reading posts of other's projects, it seems a lot less daunting.

Best of luck to you, and safe boating!
Grant

Congrats on your new purchase. I am sure you will be exstatic with your new boat. I am sure you will find the 390 guru's here are extremely helpful, even to us newbies. We just purchased ours six months ago and couldn't be happier. Beware the boat haulers. Most are a gigantic pain in the ass. Enjoy your purchase.

Congratulations! As was said perviously, there are a ton of helpful threads on this site and if you have questions just ask. You'll find everyone here to be very helpful.
Best of luck!

I have had 15 footitis for a long time

Hi Guys - thats for the welcoming words! I wrote out a longer response but the page froze and i lost what I put. I'm going to try and post some pics this time around. Also who has links to the 390 EC thread. I tried searching and came up with nothing.

In regards to the shipping I hired a semi last night with a lowboy trailer, and a 50 ton crane to drop it in the water. (no travel lift) Boat should be here tuesday 2pm.

Hi br1212. Got a name instead of just a number? Great pics. I don't have a pictorial portfolio, like Pietro has, but I really have to put up some pics of some of the cool mods that we have made. Between Pietro & myself & others, you will get some great ideas for the endless possibilities that are doable on your boat. Just break out the boat bucks and keep us informed.

Hi Ken - My name is Bill. I spent the weekend on the boat and prepped her for the haul. It's in a bit of disarray right now as I piled everything in the cabin but in a few hours all the cushions and canvas should be back on. First thing I'd like to do is get a bimini top for it. It has a full camper enclosure but its the kind that slants down and buttons to the back so it cuts off the back seating of the boat. In the summer I will want it open but shaded. What do those run and where do you find the poles/canvas to fit our boats?

I've had to spend 4 boat bucks already just in hauling it and getting the crane. So hopefully I can get a summer of nothing too major! Also as I noted the vacuum pump head was running constantly. It appears that the water in the bowl is very slowly draining which indicates that is where the leak is. Sometimes I can get a seal sometimes I can't. Is there a gasket to change in the bowl? When the boat gets shipped I'm going to tackle the impeller too in the genset. I hear it's a pretty easy job. Any posts here that outlines how to do that?

Please load up pics - i saw the restoration in the link below! Thats would make me nauseous getting that deep into a re-fit! I'd like to see how the different cabins are laid out, TV mounts, and how the back decks are put together. Perhaps even sun pads up front to make use of the 30 feet of bow!

I got to say I had dock neighbors wanting me to take it out this weekend and follow them to some coves. However it was windy and I didn't trust myself yet in trying to back it back into a corner slip with million dollar boats around me! Looking forward to getting it to my small calm lake with no tides, haha

She gets loaded tomorrow and shipped tuesday! Can't wait.

Cheers,
Bill R

Hi Bill,
We also felt very intimidate when we first got our 390. We made the leap up from a 29' Chris Craft with twin 4.3 l. I/O's. Is the top that you are trying to describe similar to ours? Our top runs from the arch forward to the windshield and from the arch back to the stern and squares off so that it does not cut off the back seating. We also have a separate set of zip-in screens that we can put in after removing all or some of the plastics. What do you have for a Genny? Perhaps you could post that info in your signature. I changed our Genny impeller a few years ago and it was not that difficult to do. While you are in impeller mode, you really should consider changing the water pump impellers as well. Then, the next crappy job would be to replace your duckbill valves and fart filter. Everything that you can do at this point in the game, including complete engine tuneups will be to establish a base line so that you know exactly what you've got so that you feel very confident that your exposure to breakdowns has been minimized as best as possible.

regards, Ken
