I really do enjoy my 88 Laguna 20 by Sea Ray. Recently, however, I read on the net that this hull model does not have foam floatation. This floored me. Could someone who knows please tell me as to the answer, float or no float?

Basically here is what I know....and this is correct but can be added to by others for better info. Basic vs foam flotation. Basic means you have dead air spaces in the boat that keep the vessel afloat. Mainly as a safety in case the boat capsized or becomes swamped. Foam flotation means those dead air spaces are filled with foam filler that actually will not allow for the air to be displaced and pushed out as fast in a swamping or capsize event. Both boats over time will sink..... But the rate of a basic flotation sinking vs a foam flotation will theoretically be faster given such an event. Does this help? In short.... Be safe, watch the weather and tide reports. Keep PFD's accessible. Have fun and don't turn boat over:). Hope this helped

Allright, I now have information directly from Sea Ray and now I can sleep better. For anyone who wants to know, as per Sea Ray replies, the 1988 Laguna 20 CC, has direct injected foam flotation pretty well throughout the floor. I was sent an engineering schematic showing the injection plugs and throughout the floor in places other than the livewells, there is foam injection. The volume of foam meets or exceeds the USCG regs. in place. Now for a bit of bad news. Sea Ray currently does not make a hull design like the old Laguna CC's. I really do like mine.
