88 27' purchase this saturday what to look for

I am planning on purchasing the boat next to us(current is a 1970 30' Gibson). She is a 88 27' SR, twin sixes with an aft cabin. Don't know the exact model designator. While we are planning on having her surveyed are there any general problem areas with SR? I had a contract on a 1986 Silverton until I discovered all the 'normal' rot that they get(the dreaded triangles and cabin flooring).
This craft is a one owner boat and on a lift. Her owner is in his 80's and retiring from boating. How is the stabiliy in rougher water(MIssissippi)?
Any thing to look for in particular?
