88' 230 CC won't run right

:smt021 Hello everyone - My 230 with a 7.4L just came back from the shop. Rebuilt the carb,replaced the boot and STILL will not run over 1500 RPM without cutting out and missing. Anyone with experience or advice ? Still had a great day on the lake .:smt100

Sounds like a spark or fuel issue. When was the last time the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil, and oil were changed? What ignition system do you have? If its the THunderolt IV or V could be the module. Have you hooked up a remote fuel tank to your carb to rule out bad fuel? What kind of fuel pressure are you getting? If its low could be a fuel pump too. Have you held the throttle linkage at the carb down manually to see if its a throttle cable problem? Compression check?
