86 Sundancer Paint or Gelcoat

Please help. My Sundancer has a very large stripe on the sides that is a burgandy or maroon color. The stripe is always fading. I can buff it with wax or gelcoat restorer but it always fades back. I want to clearcoat the stripe but I'm not sure what to use. The boat itself is a cream color. Can you advise what type of clearcoat to use?
