I'm new to the forum, and hoping someone has a source for the molded rubber gas cap gasket and integral retaining strap for the thru deck gas filler hardware common on '80's SeaRay Sports Boats (please refer to photos).

I have seen that Nissan used a similar gasket/retainer strap, but I didn't find any specs/dimensions on that eBay listing. Besides, it would be totally out of the realm of the normal luck I usually experience when searching for replacement parts for a nearly 40 year old classic.

I'm sure that if the replacement gasket/retainer strap is no longer being produced, other resourceful SeaRay affectionatos must have come up with alternative substitutes.

Thanks in advance for any information provided,

I need a new lanyard/chain for my gas cap also. I'm fortunate so far that I trailer my boat and have only been gassing up while its on the trailer. If I was gassing up while the boat was in the water, I would have had to do something to ensure the cap doesn't fall into the drink.
Last year we picked up a new gas cap for my wife's van. The seal/gasket from the old gas cap fit nicely on the boat gas cap, just slightly thicker which isn't an issue.

also new to the searay way....have a 83 srv 21 ft...missing lanyard as well....have you had any luck???,im in need of pics of the woodwork that supports the rod storage box aft....previous owners trashed her.im rebuilding and have not much to work with....seat supports are gone as well....any pics would be huge....thanx b

Most of the fuel fills including caps are made by Perko or Attwood. I looked in their catalogs and you can get new caps with an attached chain but I did not see a separate lanyard except for this, https://perko.com/catalog/fuel_system_components/349/retaining_cable_for_deck_plates/
You can buy new gas caps with chain at most any marine supply like West Marine, Wholesale Marine, Jamestown Distributors, Amazon, and many others.

Perko Catalog https://perko.com/catalog/spare_parts/fuel_system_components/
Attwood Catalog https://drive.google.com/file/d/1UUNUo79UauPT-nHOIWvVm97m2GHP7asq/view

But you won't find exact replacement parts for vintage boats except in a boat junkyard, if you can find one of those.

Sometimes you can find vintage Sea Ray Parts on Ebay, or
here https://www.searay-parts.com/Tank-s/5.htm
here https://www.greatlakesskipper.com/oem-parts-and-accessories/sea-ray-boats
On eBay search on "Vintage Sea Ray boat parts accessories"
