Got it back from the dealer yesterday. The service advisor misspoke when he said engine replacement- it was the outdrive, as expected. But now it’s running like new again and all was covered under warranty. No idea what the cause was, but considering there was less than 150 hours on it, likely had a defect from the factory.

TECH HAULED BOAT AND REMOVED
DRIVE. FOUND EXCESSIVE METAL ON BOTH DRAIN PLUG
MAGNETS. TECH REMOVED DRIVE SHAFT AND INSPECTED GEARS.
FOUND MULTIPLE FAILED GEARS. SEE PICS IN DOC MANAGER
AND FULL REPORT FOR MERCURY WARRANTY. NEED TO REPLACE
DRIVE.| INSTALLED
NEW DRIVE. LAKE TESTED AND CONFIRMED PROPER RUNNING
CONDITION.
