Here is the inline filter look at the gray/sliver canister to the left of the white oil filter it is below the spin on fuel filter. When I bought my boat, used it did not have one on the port engine, I Have since corrected the issue.
You may want to look at this post you can read all or start at #21. Knock on wood it appears to have been a fuel pump, which would start chattering (probably arching inside) after all was at an internal bilge area ambient temperature. At least the last two times I went out all worked just fine.
Changed the ECM relay also while at it, less then $100.00 for both relays
