Hi everyone, I am new to large boats but operated many smaller boats and this srv240 needs major help. Neglect is the biggest problem, finding parts is the second and 3rd is the OMG ouch on the wallet ha ha ha. I need a few things to complete this boat which are the teak rails from the bow hatch forward, I have the first 2 sets and need the second 2 sets closest to the anchor hatch. There are also 4 smaller teak parts?? which are set in aluminum. I have 3, they are to left and right of the hatch and I am missing 1. Also one teak step by the stern is missing which is also set inside aluminum. I am also looking for a windshield for this boat and also a hardtop with sliding windows on the sides. I have found a few online which I have left many messages trying to buy or get prices but no one answers?? Does anyone have these parts or know who wants to really sell them??? I have rebuilt several classic vehicles and parts are so easy to find but for a boat seems as if they are hidden ha ha ha ha.

Are the forward rails missing altogether, or just in poor shape and in need of replacement? If the latter, you may be able to use the old ones as patterns to make new rails. On the smaller parts, again, can you remove the parts you have to use as a pattern for new parts? There are plenty of places on the web selling teak wood, if you are at all handy with tools; be sure to use a dust mask to avoid inhaling the teak dust.

If you aren't handy working with wood, take your parts or patterns to a woodworking shop to make the parts. I'll bet there are plenty around with idle time right now.

If you can't make them yourself, or don't want to have new ones made, you can always search the local boat salvage yards. they may have the pieces you are looking for.

good luck!

Thanks for your suggestions. And yes the parts are missing all together even the windshield is gone. Oregon doesn't seem to have much for salvage yards and I am currently looking into other yards across the good o'l USA. I have found what I needed a few times and have left messages but no response as of yet??? It does sound like a good Idea just to have new rails made, maybe all of them to have them match in color. Anyone know what the little circuit below the throttle lever is? Some of it is gone but there is some circuits showing:huh: it is to the right of the steering wheel and right of the seat and directly below the throttle, maybe a warning buzzer or light. Whatever it is it dont work either. This boat was free so I have room for many repairs in my budget ha ha ha ha ha. Is there such thing as free? I think I am having fun though...LOL

I wouldn't worry about the teak "matching". Wood is a natural product and there will always be a slight variation in color/tone. It's part of the charm.

I cannot comment on the cicuit below the throttle, as I am unfamiliar with your boat. Maybe someone that has your boat will comment. Please be patient on a response.

the best part will be the comments on how nice she looks when your done rehabbing her.

We will need pics.

I am not sure if it is the same, but I had a small panel below the throttle on my '83 amberjack, it was the "sniffer" it detected gas vapors in the bilge. I don't technically know what it was called, probably just a vapor alarm, but a couple of my friends got a kick out of calling it the "sniffer"

Thanks Chris, anything at this point is definitely a help and keeps me from going into the store saying uhh duh thingy by the whatchamacallit ha ha ha i don't know many of the names of these thingies yet but I am learning and all your help is greatly appreciated. The closest dealer to me is 90 miles away they're not much help. Can the sniffer be placed in my son's room?? ha ha ha ha
