This week, we mark the 75th anniversary of D-Day, the largest amphibious assault in history to liberate Europe from the Axis powers. As a boating community, I think we all understand the complexity of that operation better than most, and all owe a debt of gratitude to "The Greatest Generation" that can never be repaid.
Having walked those beaches in Normandy a few years ago, along with the American Cemetery at Omaha Beach, it's humbling to think about what was accomplished 75 years ago. Both of my grandparents served in the European theater, one in WWI and one in WWII. There were no guarantees that this massive amphibious campaign would be successful. Churchill knew this all too well from the failed Gallipoli Campaign of WWI. Just wanted to remember, and say thank you again.
