75 mercruiser gear/maybe prop problems

I have a 75 Sea Ray...just put a new prop, new starter, had the linkage adjusted, and got it out on the water, outta the no wake zone, and it came outta gear..no forwards or reverse. No metal shavings in gear oil.... Any suggestions or help?? Please........

Shift Cables prob need adjusted and/or replaced.
