Yep, Rusty is an honorary member of the Sea Ray Boat Club of Northern California! And yes, we get LEFT out a lot. Nothing saying you can’t still be involved in the annual Dom cruise and you always have a place to land at my house that comes with a Sea Ray to run!

There are still weeds on the dock (I think weed is legal in NJ now?) and the Golden Nugget is still a crap hole hotel. But at least it's $500/night. They supposedly remodeled it but I think they chose "New Jersey Run Down Hotel" as the design pallet.

Great to see everyone though... Even though I only know about 4 people now.

I think that we can probably agree that the docks at Frank Farley are in awful condition, the hotel is ... tired, and that in general, Atlantic City is still a dump 42 years after they approved casino gambling that promised to "save" Atlantic City.

If we do this again next year, I think moving a little more south to Cape May makes a great deal of sense. Two marinas, South Jersey Marina and Canyon Club Marina are two possible host sites. South Jersey is a bit smaller and only has 25 transient slips while Canyon Club offers 40. There are a couple of other marinas, but I've only taken transient slips at those two. We had pretty good stays there with our friends.

Possible that a change of venue would also interest a few more people, especially since there's a lot more to Cape May than there is in Atlantic City, which only has gambling and... ummm...

Frank, CM was looked into a couple of years ago, back when the economy was in the dumps. The most they could handle was about a dozen boats. I ck'd the marinas you mention above, as well as Schooner Island.

The trend recently (at least here in NJ) is that places we would get to every year have minimal transient slips available b/c the marinas are at near capacity with seasonal slip holders. AC was a challenge this year and for the first time, they stopped taking reservations from us b/c of a sell out. High Bar Harbor Yacht Club Marina and Shelter Harbor Marina were unattainable for our party of 3 boats. My marina is completely full and hasn't been in probably a decade. Boating is back and large rendevous like this one are difficult to accommodate.

Ron, You are spot on... Any place nice will not be able to accommodate a large group. I thought the Golden Nugget was good, not great, but a fine place to visit. Thank you and Rick for setting it up...

Thanks, Ron, for the response. That makes sense. Even our dock at the marina is full this year.

No rendezvous any more, but I wore my T- shirt from a prior event last week as I cruised up the NJ coast. My small tribute to a great man, gone too soon.

    No more rendezvous?
That’s sad to hear. I’m sure it took quite a bit of planning something like that every year. Next time we’re out, I’ll be sure to raise a toast to him in remembrance.
