$625 to spend at West Marine - what to buy

My dinghy died a slow death a few weeks ago and the “warranty” process netted me a gift card for $725.

I wound up buying a dinghy off of craigslist so now I have a gift card left over.

I have since bought the wife $100 worth of clothing at WM so I’m down to $625.

Any suggestions on what to buy at WM?

Do you have a DSC-capable VHF? What about a DSC hand-held has a back-up? Maybe even upgrade to AIS?

You need to watch WM flare sales promotions. They are usually out of date by one or two years.

Well, I'm now down to about $350. I took the wife with me on Friday and she found a few clothing items that she wanted.

Saturday afternoon my Magma grill died, so I wound up having to buy a new one.

I've got a two good DSC capable VHF radios but can't use the MMSI because I go out of the country with the boat (

• Do not communicate with or visit foreign ports (i.e. Canada, Bahamas, Mexico & the Caribbean)

I was really looking hard at the AIS but I just can't justify the costs.

You can get a station license. I'm personally willing to have a U.S.-based MMSI, but Canada is my only international option.
