BED LINENS -- another follow-up

BED LINENS -- follow up.

We inherited several sets of matching sheets and pillow cases, in good (almost new, some apparently unused) condition. Two complete sets for each of the bunk beds. Almost two complete (missing a top sheet) for the forward stateroom. Almost two complete (missing a fitted bottom sheet) for the master stateroom. One set is white, the other is a light brown. The top sheets and the pillow cases are embellished with a distinct decorative satin stripe.

Given there were a couple missing pieces... and given most of the pillow cases were giant 30" wide models for queen size pillows, and given we also already had a supply of relatively new 26" wide models for standard pillows... I thought useful to track down the original OEM supplier and flesh out our inventory. (And we can use the wide cases on our own new "master" pillows.)

Not as easy as I'd imagined. Sea Ray told me a) bedding was made in house back then (but see below), and b) I might try qualitycustomlinens.com. Latter looks like an OK supplier, but I didn't see anything to suggest they could match the fabric colors or the decorative satin stripe, let alone mattress shapes.

Another avenue is through the mattress people. Ours are by Handcraft Mattresses, and they absolutely will make sheets to order. They just need the mattress number (see their mattress label) for the fitted sheets. I decided to hold that thought, given that didn't immediately match fabrics or stripes either. (Would probably be easiest for new fitted sheets, though.)

Random searching, and then climbing back on the (hauled and blocked) boat to have a look at labels on the existing sheets, eventually led me to what seems to be the (an) answer. These links are all the same folks:
Custom Recreational Specialties (rv-boat.com)
Boat Sheets | Dream World Design, Inc.
Home - Dream World Design Custom Recreational (mcssl.com)
Dream World Design

Using the first link for reference, the sheets we have are their "200 Thread Count" version in Pearl White and Espresso. (Edit: that turned out to be wrong. See new update.) The stripe is optional. Not top of their lines, but then again they seem to be decent enough sheets.

I've tried some back and forth email with them (Anna and Monica) to try to pin down exact pattern numbers, without much luck -- the numbers on our labels are faded, not legible. OTOH, we don't actually need a odd-shaped fitted sheet, so that doesn't matter all that much.

On Tuesday, I spoke with "Jessica" at 800-955-1322 to order. Her confirmation email had the number (Phone) 801-294-6420, (Toll Free) 855-955-1322 along with a Fax number and both names: Dream World Design and Custom Recreational Specialties. Jessica mentioned they used to make sheets for Sea Ray (maybe or maybe not contrary to what Sea Ray told me), and if they made our sheets during our era, they could probably match our patterns numbers if we could give her those (but see above ref legibility).

Anyway, I ordered the two missing sheets, and several standard size pillow cases. With stripes on the top sheet and pillow cases. That didn't add much to our bill.

Assuming we receive what we expect, I think our problem is solved.

We've since discovered more info about the three Dream World sheet options:
-- 200-count sheets are a cotton/polyester blend, percale weave
-- 350-count sheets are 100% cotton, percale weave
-- 600-count sheets are 100% cotton, sateen weave

Near as we can tell, the sheets that came on the boat were the 600-count version. Our "Goldilocks" preference is probably the 350-count all-cotton percale weave... but a set of those only just arrived so we haven't had time to confirm that yet.

Their current colors don't really match the sheet colors that came with the boat; even all of the whites are different, and they have nothing at all like "beige" sets we have. (This after confirming it's not just a color rendition issue on computer screens and so forth... and after reviewing actual fabric samples from all three of their varieties.)

Dream World told me their sheets would have a pattern number on one of the labels. They might, but if so we haven't been able to read the pattern numbers given the number of washings. That would be especially useful for bottom sheets on the odd-shaped mattresses -- bow and bunk staterooms -- but as it happens we don't need new bottom sheets for those so haven't pursued that further.

Chris - I'll measure - it may be a 32'. I have a 40 as well in the salon and that fits perfectly. Last year we just had it on its stand in front of the original with a safety strap. Got the old one removed last weekend and ordered a 200x200 mount that came Monday.

I absolutely DESPISE the fire tvs. The OS is pure crap. I'm always having trouble with it. I've added a roku to each one. IMO, the roku OS is so much better.

Good info Tim - thanks. I've stuck with Samsung Smart TV's - 4 on the boat, 4 in each house...

I'm not impressed either, but ours (from a PO) works so I moved it to the bow stateroom... where I don't have to mess with it. In fact, I don't expect anybody to ever mess with it...

Does anyone know how close the 52 sheets are to the 58?

We replaced the 32" Samsung saloon TV (not original to the boat) with a 40" Samsung, and it takes almost all of the horizontal space available in the cabinet. The earlier TV had been on a Sanus SAN25BB mount and I just re-used that.

(I might not have bothered to replace the 32" but when we got the boat it was displaying two vertical lines down the screen toward the left side of the picture. Oddly, that all cleared up after we re-launched for the season, no clue why...)

So then when we moved the 32" Samsung to the master... and it's a tight-ish fit. (You really think a 40 would fit there?) Had to swing out the Bose Jewel cub speakers, and there's not a lot of vertical space left over. Used a Sanus VST4 tilt mount.

An Insignia Fire TV had been in the master, think maybe it's ~24"... and that's what we moved to the bow. Not much horizontal space left over from that, too. I used a new piece of starboard to replicate the original mount system; the Sharp TV had been mounted with a 100x100 VESA pattern, and the Insignia was a 100x200 pattern...

I'm thinking maybe the hole in the bunk room (once empty of Sharp TV) would make a good place for the small battery chargers for various tools, handheld,Bose cubes below it... headphones, etc.

Didn't have a bridge TV on the boat, and I don't imagine wanting one there...

-Chris
Chris - I got a 40" diagonal in my Master. The opening is 40" and the TV is 36" horizontal...I put the Bose cubes below it...

Interesting. Without having measured, I wouldn't have thought a 40' would fit even with the cubes moved. Good to know.

Our Bose system is apparently dead, so I eventually expect to bag the cubes anyway. Probably just need to find something that would mask the mounting holes...

16 year old boats! Bose & 5 A/C systems...like a house with a 25 year old roof or a car with a 6 year old battery - ON BORROWED TIME!!

My bridge air is getting louder and now is exhibiting the loud "gasp" after starting up. would love it to make it to winter!! Still cools well though...

SO true. I have now had our boat local to us for 53 weeks, three weeks ago we had the first weekend that that work list dropped in count, we have paid dearly for that one blissful weekend in spades, last weekend was a complete failure of nmea2000 network that turned out to be a bad Raymarine junction block but took the purchase of a a $450 tester and 5 hours of my time to locate. This weekend was a generator that runs for 2 hours before shutting down. New filters and several hours of troubleshooting did nothing to solve so now off to the mechanic to have professional eyes on it.

REMOVING THE BUNK ROOM TV

Started that project, no joy. I removed the obvious horizontal screws that enter the black removable TV cabinet base from inside the hanging locker. I removed the two vertical screws at each front corner of the cabinet base.

But there's not enough clearance side to side, inside the decorative surround, to allow the whole TV and cabinet base to slide out. Nor is there clearance at the top of the TV to allow sliding the base plate/TV out slightly tilted. And of course the TV is apparently screwed to the black cabinet base from the underside.

Am I missing an easy trick? Or is the next step the Saws-All approach on the screws holding the TV to the base?

Well, a 12" Sawz-All blade along the underside of the TV didn't do it. Haven't been able to figure out what's holding the TV in. Not positive yet, but it seems like I can slide a metal yardstick all the way from side to side under the TV...

-Chris

Did I see on that drawing some attachments in the rear?

The drawing says there's a bracket supporting the rear of the shelf... doesn't imply it's attached to the TV itself. It also says the TV is captured by screws upward from underneath the shelf, but near as I can tell I've already sawed through all of those.

I need to recheck that, but I'm also pondering my next steps...

Chris – I bought a borescope from Amazon - it was only about 60 bucks - do you think something like that could get under and behind it and let you see what’s up?
