58 Sedan Bridge Official Thread

I mentioned earlier our Glomex antenna appears to have no 12VDC power. I would normally first suspect a fuse, possibly an automotive-type blade fuse in a fuse block somewhere.

The Parts Manual, Salon (Port View), part #11, says:
11 1781228 MONITOR, CO DETECTOR WHT CMD-4
1782156 PLATE, CO MONITOR BCKNG WHT CMD-4
1647148 FUSE BLOCK, 10-GNG CO MONITOR TV AMP W/LABELS

The Owners Manual, P7.1, says:

The CO monitors are powered through the fuse block behind the salon DC Distribution Panel.

I'm interpreting all that to mean I need to open up the AC/DC distribution panel to get to the fuse block that might have a blown TV antenna fuse (and coincidentally has fuses for the CO detectors).

That's the way the 52 is configured, and the fuses are there.

Sure enough, there's a 10-gang fuse block behind the AC/DC Main Distribution Panel (MDP). And the whole panel has a safety strap to limit how far the thing will open; nice touch, I think.

Slots 1, 2, 7, and 8 are used for 1A ATO/ATC blade fuses for the fours CO detectors. Slot 9 is for the 3A TV (Glomex A-B/amplifier) fuse, and slot 10 is for the 5A MDP lights fuse. Slots 3/4/5/6 not used. Our block had mis-matched fuses in slots 6 and 10, no fuse in 8, and the TV fuse was indeed blown.

Replacing the 3A TV fuse restored power to the Glomex A-B/amplifier, and now I have 44 stations (counting dupes) at our home slip.

That didn't solve TV signal to the staterooms, though, so I'll probably have to look at the next splitter in line, when I get a round tuit.

Of course our CO detectors reached end-of-life long ago, so I've ordered replacements... but I think I'll pull the 1A fuses for now and wait to install the new detectors until next Spring... since we'll be on the hard over this coming winter. Might as well not start the 7-year CO detector clock until the last minute, and I don't want a load on batteries while were away from shorepower for an extended period.

Sad day today. No time to get two weeks off to take Reward to her winter home in Cape Coral, so we winterized her this weekend. She'll be happy in fresh water and under cover this winter, but Susan and I will winter in Ft. Myers without her - sad.

Hire a captain.

I’d go up and bring her down but we are in the motor home for the next week.

Ken.

Has anyone replaced the sub zero freezer model#249FFI. Looking for a compatible model that will be a direct replacement.

Hey Ken!
Looking forward to being back in SWFL for the next 8 months! Captains run fast on the river - risky for submerged debris - ask me - I've hit invisible objects twice running fast. $18Kl Now we run 10 kts until we get to the Gulf.

Hey Carter……That’s unfortunate……But at least you will be down in the warm weather so that’s a plus! Hopefully, we can get together.

Have not, but...

I was recently troubleshooting potential issues with our 700BR-3 drawer fridge unit, and had some useful contact with the Sub-Zero technical folks. They were very helpful, and may well be able to answer what new models could be a drop-in replacement for the 249FFI.

We have a Sub Zero fridge at home, I can say it is by far the best service experience I have ever had with ANY product. When they come into you home no shoe, part or tool will ever touch your floor, they lay carpets and pads everywhere they work.

The nice part about Sub Zero is when they make an upgrade to your model, its the exact same footprint as the old model. They expect their appliances to be build into custom cabinets.

The bad part is all that service and size convenience comes with a hefty price tag!

Our winterization starts in two weeks, unless this coming weekend follows the same pattern the rest of this fall has, then it will be this wekend.

We traded in our '07 52DB, Truly Blessed III, for an 07 58DB, creatively named Truly Blessed IV. We spend a lot of time on the boat and the full beam master state with queen bed that we can walk around to make is nice, as is the larger bridge and salon. Plus....our youngest is now taller than I am and he no longer fit in the bunks of the 52DB.

We loved the 52-we put 500 hours on her in 4.5 seasons. Great boat, and a rocket ship with the 800 HP MANs. At WOT, the 58 is nearly as fast, albeit gulping a bit more fuel, but she is also more comfortable in rough seas--approx 8 tons heavier than the 52.

The 58 was purchased in Pompano Beach, then sold and moved up to the Occoquan River. The owner's wife suffered an injury that prevented her from being able to safely climb the bridge ladder, so the boat had very little use over the last couple years. The MANs have 1,000 hours; the Onan has 1500. We did proper due diligence with a great surveyor, and Hild's Marine Service, the Mid Atlantic MAN Dealer, performed the mechanical survey-great folks. She surveyed well, but we had a two page list of small items, all of which the seller agreed to take care of.

Prince William Marine did an incredible job taking care of the survey items and cleaning her up-new bottom paint, black canvas to replace the factory tweed (and an Ez2CY bridge enclosure); and a host of other items. My sons and I replaced all the bridge and cockpit white lights with blue LEDs, and the boat looks nearly new.

Skip - i have thought about replacing all our lights with LED but wondered if they would be too bright etc. let me know how you like them after the exchange - we have had our 2006 58 since Oct. 2017 and really love the boat - we had a 400 Sedan Bridge for many years prior and i wanted to go to a 52 and my wife really wanted the 58 and i am so glad we went to the 58 - thanks

I'll throw in here if you don't mind. Don't confuse brightness with color temperature. I have replaced all lamps on the boat sans engine room with LED. For the three inch recessed lights in the cabin I kept the temperature to no more than 3600 degrees Kelvin and matched the lumens (brightness) to the halogens and for the heads 5000 degrees Kelvin (more towards sunshine). These are the lamps from Marinebeam.com I installed for the living areas https://store.marinebeam.com/9-led-back-pin-g4-smd-power-cluster-novi-bp-g4-09x/
Very happy with them.

Don’t let me ruin it for you guys... I was told Christmas tree fasteners too. However, I found out the hard way that they are actually screwed on from behind. Pry hard enough and you’ll see what I mean. Summer went by without ordering the 1/4” rope lighting so it’s on the spring punch list at this point.

FWIW I did replace the rope lighting under the vanity in the master head.

Can you let me know how you were able to unscrew them to get them off - i have looked but don't have a clue - thanks for your help in advance

You don’t/can’t. I pried hard enough thinking they were super tough Christmas tree clips (as SR customer support guessed) and ended up ripping it right off the screws! As far as I can tell there is no other way. They had to have been preassembled and then the salon built around them?

How did you reapply the columns after you had pried them off? thanks for your help

Alright so it’s actually pretty easy. Using both hands, grip the top of the fabric panel with your fingers behind the panel. Pull firmly and strongly and you should feel the wood start to pull away from the screws. Keep pulling until it gives way, then pull it off at the bottom. It’s important to note that when you pull on the fabric panel, you’re actually pulling the wood panel behind off with it. It will come off as one piece.

To reapply, I just put a glob of silicone on each of the screws that are sticking out, and pressed the panel back onto to those screws.

Anyone having trouble with their sliding door lock set? Seems like I am having to adjust the latchplate up/down to a very precise point to get the lock to work properly. I contacted Taylormade for a price on their P/N 5101780 lockset, and they said $3,556 and not available! I went back and said I don't need the whole door - just the lockset!! I'm waiting to hear.

I'm going to take some measurements and see if this one fits:

Carter
i had trouble with a key for the lock and call Taylor Made and they wanted $175 for one blank key -
i took the lockset out of the door and when to a locksmith shop - they had the brand new lockset for $108 and a blank key of $8.00-
i did have trouble with the door and took it off the frame and put back on with a marine max tech and helper - and i helped - it was really a 4 man job - it was a bear but all good now -

So you got the entire lock set for $108? Wow!! Was that the interior guts of the Taylormade Handle/lock assembly?

If so, I may make a trip to Houston!!

I took that door off 4 years ago by myself - that was a bear of a job!!
