Does anyone know if this is a direct replacement for the factory installed windlass. Thank you

Thank you I’ll call them tomorrow to see if it’s a direct replacement I don’t want to have to drill new holes. Lofrans is having production issues one of their main suppliers closed shop due to covid so they are backordered until late April/may

I’m going to change out all the interior and exterior lights to LED does anyone have part numbers or a link to order them. Thank you

I used the
G4 LED Bulb 2W 10W 20W Halogen Bulbs Replacement AC/DC 12V G4 Bi-Pin Base Light Warm White 2700K Lamp from Amazon and they work well. They dim without flickering.

Got any idea where
the Cable Master remote module is located? I need to program my new remotes.. I cannot locate my cable master module to press the program switch.

One of the MAN diesel techs told me recently that Sea Ray moved from Twin Disc MG-5114A gears to ZF for the 58DB models, starting possibly in model year 2007. True? If true, which ZF model number? Pros/cons of either?

Aside from that, are there are other evolutionary changes from model year 2006 through 2007-2008 that would be worth some additional consideration?

Thanks, -Chris

Not a ton of major changes.

2007 the cockpit seat is recessed into the aft locker, where the davit in the 2005 model was. Pro - the cockpit is much larger, Con - you loose a lot of valuable storage space outside

2008 they added a second drawer between the dinette and salon sofa above the very long drawer

2008 mid year the helm seats changed, the newer ones are much more comfortable in my opinion, but can be easily replaced on older boats if desired

2008 late year they added a secondary 125V/50A shore power cord, but not on a cablemaster. I assume this may have also been with a slight AC upgrade but could not find any details. Its only needed under high AC demands.

I have not seen or heard of many other changes, other than minor equipment differences.

@ranger58sb, I’m not near my boat at the moment or I would confirm, but I’m 99% certain that my 2005 has ZF gears..... couldn't attest to the model number but someone here will have your answer.

I am surveying one tomorrow. I will confirm the gears either tomorrow or when I get the report back in a couple of days.

Thanks, all. Additional comments welcome, too... especially gear info... and survey results. :)

Different boat but may be interesting to compare -
2012 58 Sundancer w/ 900 MAN
Model - ZF360IV 1.767:1 ratio

Fuel Management. Does the 2007-2008 58 DB's with MAN's in them have a fuel management system? MAN version of Smart Craft? Something that tells them exactly how much fuel is in each tank? Or is the Analog gauges all there is?

Thanks, Bill

re: Gears

I don't have my survey report back yet and I forgot to jump into engine room to grab a picture, but a previous survey that was on the boat said they were ZF-360A. This is on a 2008 58DB.

All's Well I think your's are V drive correct? I think the IV signifies V drive.

re: Fuel Display
The MAN display on the 2008 I just surveyed did not have fuel level, just fuel burn. The fuel gauges are analog, although you should be able to convert the data to NMEA2000 to display on an MFD. I don't think the MAN displays will output NMEA2000 though, so your stuck doing math in your head if your looking for distance or time to empty.

Carter - didn't they also change the engine room / lazzerette layout between the 550DB and 58DB (2005 - 2006) models and the 58DB is much better with more useable room?
Hi Tom,

My dockmate's '05 55DB is identical to my '06 58DB - other than he has a platform below a shorter bilge ladder to stow spare props. I stow mine (as well as he does) under the lower bunk in the "JO Bunkroom"...

CruzPro -- and probably others -- makes digital tank level gauges for fuel and so forth.

CruzPro's more elaborate version designed for odd-shapes tanks provides several levels of detail... but the set-up is a bit fiddly. (Start with an empty tank, fill approx 1/16th at a time, make some settings, repeat 16 times... ) The less elaborate version assumes a plain ol' cube-shaped tank, and is possibly good enough anyway. Very good customer service.

Are you guys finding available boats haven't had much (any provable) MAN service?

Not sure of current availability, but the 2008 in Pompano Beach had major service done in November 2020, and the 2007 in Miami reportedly had A1 and A2 done in December 2020. Just a note that the 2008 has been on the market for two years.

But 80% of the boats I have called on have not had recent service, most have no record of any service.

Most of the good (from what I could tell) properly priced 58db's sold last fall. A couple of other good ones were taken off the market because owners couldn't find replacement boats.

Good luck, it's a jungle out there.
