560 DB Owners Club

I can tell you where I wish they weren't. My 2001 has spare props. Dont know if they were factory delivered or added later. They are mounted on a platform on the starboard side of the lazarette, just aft of the fuel filters.

I say I wish they were NOT there because its on of the few places that there is a decent storage area. Not that there are a lot of OTHER places to put them (they are REALLY big). I gues if I could, Id prefer them to be moved further aft to free up some more contigous storage space. Dont know what that would do to to the balance of the boat however.

I'll try to hunt down a pic if I can find one. I wont be back at the boat until later in May or Id just snap one for you.

This is the best I can come up with. It was taken from the forward of the lazarette looking aft. You can see part of the props on the left.

Mine are mounted on the aft walkway, right where that clear container is in Joel's pic. It's not a bad place for location. I'm somewhat concerned with dinging the props in an open area and have thought about constructing a starboard frame to protect. Other than that, seems to be the spot.

By the way, congrats on joining the club! As a fellow owner of a 2001 560DB with 3406E's, I can confidently say - you will love the boat. It seems like a lot of boat at first, however it pilots like a dream!

Paul -

Interesting placement. I assume they are stacked two high? Is there enough headroom to get up and over them to inspect/service the bilge pumps and all the other stuff back there?

My current plan is to get a cargo net to cover the walkway area and get a few more plastic containers for storage and stack them in the walkway. However, it will require moving the containers up and out to get to the very back. It may be nice to put my storage containers where my spares currently are and move my spares to where you have yours, provided they are easy enough to get around.

Joelkoz, that is exactly where and how the marina suggests I put them. I don't like it as I don't want to lose all that storage. They are huge and take up a ton of space.

I was contemplating mounting them stacked similar to where Paul stated. However I have some concerns about access to bilge pumps etc. and them getting dinged. I was thinking of actually building a shelf across the stringers right above that plastic bin in the pic. Then mounting them stacked. I could still access things aft and they would be off the floor. Thoughts?

Paul, thanks for the congrats, we are very excited to get her going. I did get those seats mounted. Ill post a pic. Again thanks for the help.

I went through my photo library to see if I had anything, however nada. Don't take a lot of pics of the bilge...

There is no issue with accessing the bilge pumps or anything else back there. The stacked props don't reach the top of the stringer. If I was starting fresh, I'd mount them there again. I also had a stern thruster installed and have no issues accessing it either.

Instead of building a shelf upon which to mount the props, simply do as I plan, which is to build a simple starboard frame to protect the props.

It's good to have the storage room on the sides, however organization and discipline are key. Extra storage space means that crap builds up. I need to go through what I've got back there and heave out stuff I haven't been using. I even have more space this year as I relocated 4 x 8D batteries that were there tied into an inverter.

First pic is of the original Pompanetts, then the Stidd seats before disasembly and powder coating, fully assembled in my shop, then installed.

I just discovered a 2003 560 for sale in Michigan. Asked my MannsMan if he knows about it and he said stay away. The boat looks great but has 804 very hard run hours on it and very little to Jo maintenance done on it , it's going for 449,000 dollars had the mans 1050 hp in her ..... Nice looking boat too.

Hi everyone, so it was the first time for my wife to ride on my 400 sedan bridge and she says its too small. She wants me to sell it and move up to a bigger boat.

Does anyone know of a nice clean 560 db with man diesels on the west coast? This is going to be exported to the philippines if ever. Thanks.

Few pics of the install of Plasdeck Cool Teak.

Looks nice, I'm actually considering the same product for my 58DB, have a few questions:

- is that just the cool teak natural tone with black lines or another color ?
- does it get hot with the sun ?
- did you install it on the bridge too ?
- any special care for maintenance or cleaning ?

I appreciate your feedback.

Dquint,
Missed your post last April - nice boat and nice upgrades! I don't know why Sea Ray put those original Pompanettes on this boat. The Stidds are a much better match. The Plasteak looks good too. All looks very similar to upgrades I completed when I first got my boat four years ago.

Also nice to see some movement on the 560 thread! The "mini-me" thread's got, like, a hundred pages...

CPT2012,

It is the PlasDeck Cool Teak with black lines.

It gets warm in the sun but never hot. I have a buddy that has the regular teak color and it gets very hot.

Maintenance is like zero. I just wash it like the all the fiberglass on the boat. Same soap and a soft brush.

I don't have it on the bridge I have custom carpet up there. I think carpet makes the bridge more comfortable.

Paul, thanks for the kind words. Yes, I used your thread for some inspiration. I agree on activity. I have done much more and would post stuff but my last post went dead in the water. But like you said the smaller boats have 1000 threads. I'll put some stuff up when I have a chance.

Dquint,
Good to hear that my posts struck a cord! I am big fan of the 560 and am very pleased with the upgrades. Please post what else you've done as I'm always looking for a good project.

Also, I wasn't slagging all smaller boats generally (that'd be just wrong) but rather those "mini-me" 480 guys specifically. It seems we used to get a lot more action when when our "head pot-stirrer" would get things going...:smt043

dquint, i tried to PM you but it says that your inbox is full. what is the contact info for the dealer where you purchased the plasdeck? I am trying to find someone who already has a template in their computer system. Thanks

Ktm509, Superior Marine did mine. I'm not sure they have computer templates but they may still have the plastic ones they made for mine. (313) 350-5312 contact is Steve. Not sure what's up with my inbox it shows empty...
