560 DB Owners Club

boaterholic, when you find one you like I'd suggest you have two surveyors. One to do the hull and all the equipment on board and the other to do just engines and transmissions. I met with both of them over breakfast and explained that this was my first big boat, first diesel boat, etc and told them I was hoping they would keep me out of trouble and keep me from buying someone else's problems.

They did.

Funny story--when we were doing the sea trial on Lake St. Clair the engine surveyor was done with his work so was on the fly bridge with us. He said "OK, run her up to WOT so we can see if she meets specs". I didn't ask what WOT was but edged the throttles forward. The boat was absolutely flying and I looked down at the plotter and the speed shown was 31kts.

F'n amazing.

Wow, crazy how some of these big girls can go so fast!

I looked at a 560 today that has lighter maple colored wood interior, or at least I think maple.
Up front starboard side in the master state room, where the side storage compartments and "shoulder" area meet the forward bulkhead there is evidence of an old water leak. I'm trying to figure out where that water would have come in at but without further looking can only guess a nearby stanchion from bow rail or possibly nearby cleat. The broker said it was an old leak that had been stopped, but the interior not repaired.
Anyone know if the lighter colored laminate is still available and where would I source it? I think that the old laminate could be pulled off and redone with new, but unless same color then I would imagine the opposite side needing to be redone as well to match. Some of the laminate on the starboard storage drawers which have a curved door is peeling off the curved surface. Not sure if a connection with the old leak.
Thank you!
