Has anyone used the “cruise 1,2” button at the helm?
I have never used it. How does it operate and how do you set the cruise speed?

I found the number on my gypsy, it was on the underside of the drum. It is the same as yours, 08102. I ended up ordering 250ft of 5/8” double braided line from fishery supply. Thanks for the info.

I don’t have a cruise button. Do you have mechanical controls? Mine are electronic, maybe that is why?

When I had my 500/52, I used the cruise button all the time. Once the feature was set at either 1 (which I programmed at recommended rpm’s) or cruise 2 (programmed at lower rpm/gph) I would just pick which speed I was in the mood/need for. I thought it was a handy feature. I don’t have it on my MAN’s now.

I have electronic controls on my 2009. I do have the cruise switch but have never been able to figure it out and nothing in owners Manuel. Thanks TNT for the link with instructions. I’ll try this this spring.

    Thank you.

I have been reluctant to engage it not knowing what RPM it is programmed to. I wouldn’t want to have the RPM’s suddenly go up or down trying to solve the “mystery”.

First does anyone know what the factory setting might have been for cruise 1? It sounds like cruise 2 may be 1200 RPM?

Any suggestions on how fast I should be going the first time I try either setting?

Cruise Control will never suddenly increase your RPMs as the throttle is still in play unless and until you push them past the setting. On the other hand, Cruise Control will decrease your RPMs if you engage it when your throttles are past the setting. A good way to think of it as establishing a ceiling but not a floor for the throttles. So, the way I would recommend to find your setting would be to start the check from idle. Turn on Cruise Control 1 then advance the throttles until you find the setting which is the point where RPMs stop increasing even though the throttles are still moving up. Then come back to idles and repeat with Cruise Control 2. Once you are at the setting you can change it with the RPM Up/Down switch. It's a good idea to leave the throttle near the setting but slightly higher. That way, if you happen to turn off CC you won't suffer from a drop in throttle as the RPMs will go to wherever the throttle is set when CC is turned off.

when we Sea trialed our boat the Cummins mechanic engaged my cruise button while we where cruising the starboard engine remained the same but the port engine went to idle and put the entire load on the starboard engine.
Obviously the rpms had not been set that’s the only time I’ve seen black smoke from my QSM’s it wasn’t a happy feeling to hear that engine take the load. So make sure you have them set I’ve never touched them since

Stage 1 underway: removed most of the Raymarine gear! Still have some wires to remove, and the radar array (hard to do that when it’s covered in snow).

Does or has anyone used the pull out bed on their 52 sedan bridge? I will need to replace the mattress for sure but the frame seems to be tweaked. Is there an adjustment I’m missing?

We have used our pullout a couple of times. I think the pull out may be slightly different in the 09 and newer boats if it has the newer galley design vs the 05’ - 08’. Not sure what you mean by “tweaked” ?

When it’s pulled out it seems to be taller in the middle side to side. It also seems taller on the foot end as well. I know I will need to replace the mattress and have looked at the coils on bottom and air on top type. Anyone have experience with these or another style or brand.

I had the aluminum frame made at a fab shop that does t-tops and then I had the steps made by a cabinet guy. Nice and compact but usable.

I made a new black acrylic dash panel to match my new Apollo stereo panel I made also
Then picked up all of my bridge upholstery Friday with my Furuno Autopilot built into the helm chair.
